It all depends on how well we do against Blackpool and Portsmouth. If we win he will be a hero. If we lose he will be a chump.
I just think fan disillusionment at Charlton is at an all time high - and not just the boycotters. The small minority not aware / oblivious to the state the club is in are the geeks and the Apologists. As an example, on a midweek night, when Charlton used to play I would regularly get 100+ Charlton tweets in my timeline if it was a good game. Easily. When we scored the winner at Burton last Tuesday night, there were three Tweets....
Saturday's attendance shows that our decline in attendance figures has not necessarily bottomed out. If Bowjacko leaves in the summer it's frightening to think what happens next, especially with the squad we are likely to have next season.
3rd Round Draw Here's how the other contenders for League One promotion got on; Portsmouth ... Norwich City away Sunderland / Walsall ... Bolton away Luton Town ... Sheffield Wednesday away Peterborough United / Bradford City ... Middlesbrough away Barnsley ... Burnley away Doncaster Rovers ... Preston North End away Blackpool / Solihull Moors ... Arsenal at home Championship or Premier League opposition for every team there. Some big games for their fans to look forward to.
Another example of the fan's apathy. CARD are Tweeting out their Roland Advent calendar every day - its getting barely 5 Likes per day The related thread on CARD life has currently got nearly 700 views - but only 12 comments.
CARD have tried their best to get rid of the Belgian virus, and I've helped them, but they have failed. Roland is still in situ.
Apathy has truely set in with a thump. But really, an advent calender is hardly the stuff to shift RD. The only thing that will do that is a sale. And the fans don't have the money. Having said all that, there is general consensus that RD is a terrible affliction for Charlton across nearly all the boards. So the continual sniping of the only group still picking at him seems a bit odd. If anyone has some fantastic idea to rid ourselves of Duchatalet and his dead controlling hand, and if they accept if it involves fan participation, almost nobody will help, they should get started.
CARD are like a peashooter trying to tame an elephant - as @ForestHillBilly said, well intentioned in the main, but they were doomed to fail the day they allowed Rick Everitt to hijack their cause. All we can do now is pray that we reach the Play Offs again...then the Aussies are bound to reappear
Nothing seems to affect Roland. He has made sure that he doesn't have any direct dealings with Charlton, except through de Turkey. When faced with questions about the situation he responds with a barrage of lies then disappears, presumably surrounded by sycophants who tell him what he wants to hear. I don't blame CARD for failing to breach the barrier surrounding Roland. He is a unique owner, open in his contempt for Charlton and football in general. No-one has the answer.
