You're sounding like Ivor relating to Powell after the Sheffield game. You'll be drinking buddies eventually
This is the first time Lee Bowyer has clearly insulted and disrespected Charlton supporters. Not because he has previously been careful not to - it is clear he does not care what fans think of him. But simply because this is the first time he has had to make a tough and unpopular choice. To his credit, Bowyer is not a politician who tries to justify unpopular decisions with weasel words. But even so his bluntness and lack of interest in how the fans who went to the Valley today have been treated will damage him permanently in the eyes of many. He alone has put himself in that position. He will have to accept responsibility for the consequences later in the season.
We got the result Bowyer wanted. I don't blame any of the players for playing badly when the manager set the team up to lose.
Correct - and as someone else has pointed out, Bowyer didn’t mention the fans once in his press conference after today’s game. A poor show.
F@ck me royston you and 1000s of others knew what was going to happen. You got f#ck all to moan about. I watched the 1st team Tuesday who I were diabolical and endur an 8hour coach journey was I moaning.
Done that hundreds of times mate...fell asleep at the wheel driving back from Tranmere Away one midweek game & nearly ended up on the other side of the motorway. The point is that if you are going to play the weakest team imaginable, and then go through the motions for 90mins, don’t charge top dollar. That game should have been a fiver today. It was like watching a reserves friendly. It’s taking the p1ss, and doesn’t sit well with me.
Never mind a love affair, fans got rogered up the arse today. Doncaster must have a 40 man squad, because they certainly seemed a lot more up for it than we did.
I think Reams on ITTV is absolutely right this evening. Spot on. Charlton fans owe no loyalty to the relegated remains of Duchatelet's failed network project, which is now of no interest to him whatsoever. He mocks loyal fans with fake news and that slick propaganda website. Only the real CAFC deserves our loyalty. The Club which will be born again when the Belgian finally sells up, whenever that is.
We never had this much outrage from the masses who went to the 1st Mansfield game and he played a sh#t team
You knew the team being out. However, Luzon got hammered for a frail team. It amounts to the same thing.
According to Newsshopper we weren't too bad?.... Here is now Newsshopper rated Charlton’s players: Dillon Phillips – 6 - After becoming second choice keeper following the loan signing Jed Steer from Aston Villa, Phillips is now used as the ‘Cup’ keeper. He made two fantastic saves in the final minutes to prevent the scoreline from being respectable to embarrassing. Toby Stevenson – 5 - The youngster had a nervy few moments in the opening minutes but he grew into the game and produced an satisfactory performance. Anfernee Dijksteel – 4 – Not a performance you would expect from a defender who is struggling to make Bowyer’s first team. He looked slow and ragged and was beaten too easily by Marquis for Doncaster’s second. Naby Sarr – 6 - The central defender hustled and bustled with ex-Lion John Marquis throughout and came out on top. There is a reason why Bowyer is so reluctant to drop him from the side and he proved it again against Doncaster. Mark Marshall – 7 – The Addicks No.7 started as a fullback but that did not mean he was restricted from bombing forward. Doncaster’s opening goal seemed to hit him on the way in but there was nothing he could do about it. Ben Reeves – 5 - The ex-MK Dons midfielder rusty at times but that is to be expected from a man who is working his way back from injury. He linked up well with Lapsie and Mahoney in the midfield. Billy Clarke – 6 - He was Charlton’s best technical player by a mile and pulled all the strings. His free-kick in the second half was only whiskers away from breaking the deadlock. George Lapslie - 7 – The 21-year-old was at the thick of everything the Addicks, if a statistic was churned out that he touched every blade of grass no eyebrows would be raised. Taylor Mahoney – 5 - Sat deep to allow which gave the likes of Lapsie and Clarke to roam. Satisfactory performance but not much to get excited about. Nicky Ajose – A very quiet day going by his usual standards. You would have forgotten he was on the pitch until a Mark Marshall cross whisked past his head in the second half. Recco Hackett-Fairchild – 6 - An impressive performance from the young striker. He dropped in deep and made runs in behind at the right times however, it was not to be as his flick on goal in first half was the closest he got to scoring. Subs: Albie Morgan – 5 – Brought on by Bowyer to bring some fresh legs to the midfield but he did not get on the ball enough to make an impact. Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu – N/A
The game was played at a friendly jogging pace, with us standing off the mighty Donny for much of the time None of the kids impressed me. Maybe Steve Avory’s conveyor belt of talent has hit a sticky patch ? The likes of Lapslie clearly need to learn the game, ideally at a lower level of football. One thing is plain after yesterday, outside of the starting 11 and the crocks, we don’t have a squad.
