Just watching the women's RL semi final. If you like RL it's a great watch, some real tasty tackles going in and it's quick.

Some heavy collisions going on, that's for sure. Kiwis have several really big mobile players and might just have too much for us as the match progresses. But it's a really good watch either way.

NZ pulling away now, Eng look a bit knackered and they also lack a bit of guile. NZ having a couple of players who are built like house sides doesn't help either.

tried watching 5 mins
but rugbys just a bunch of people running in a straight line at each other throwing a ball sideways
not exactly the most enthralling game

saying that
never knew york city got a new stadium

Oh well, almost made it, yet again! That Hufanga was something else though.

She was playing rugby union for Tonga at the same time as RL in New Zealand until recently. Would love to have seen that scrote who was racially abusing females on Saturday trying that with her.<laugh>

Well we've still got the wheelchair final against the favourites France I've really enjoyed them all, the England ladies captain has just been interviewed she's got two black eyes and was still positive if that was a mens professional football player he would still be on the ground rolling around or in a ambulance on his way to A&E lol

I have some sympathy with that opinion but the women's game will improve as the players get more experience. The men's game shows a bit more skill and imagination, the passing's quicker, the kicking's a bit better and they use offloads much more than the women do. However you can only admire the effort and passion the women put into their game especially, in Eng's case, they're doing it for nowt!

There's always an exception to the rule, most ,but not all, professionals in the higher leagues feign injury and you cannot deny that. How many times have we witnessed a tap on the head after squaring up to each other and the pathetic recipient throwing themselves to the floor like he has just been punched by Tyson Fury, spoils the game in my opinion.

Some football players feign injury because it gets them an advantage, free kicks, penalties, wasting time or an opponent booked or sent off. So basically, they are conning the officials. One of the few advantages both codes of rugby have over football is the standard of officials. Although the referee at the England's womans v New Zealand rugby union World Cup final at the weekend made a howler of a decision which swung the game in the Kiwis favour unjustly. So, they are all human.
Have a look on youtube at the Charlton v Hull City game from 1968/69 season, it was featured on MOTD. Some of the tackling from both sides would have seen the same game abandoned today, and I don't think anyone was even booked in that game. It does show how tame the modern game has become, almost any contact is now deemed a foul, because an advantage can be gained from it. I blame the officials in football because they let the players get away with the cheating, and it has not happened over night, I remember the outrage in the 1966 World Cup when Argentina used the 'dark arts' of football against England for the first time. As much as it pains me to say it, rugby have the upper hand over football with a better standard of refereeing throughout.

What needs improving in the women’s game is the handling. Possession is lost far too much because of it. Though it does make for more of an end to end game. The kicking in the men’s game is more than a bit better. There again it is a lot better than the men’s rugby league kicking as well.

I am not really qualified to say whether that was a red or not but a lot of ex players commenting and writing on it said it was the right decision.
Totally agree with the comments about refereeing. Far more respect shown to the referee in both codes. Knowing saying something will result in play being 10 yards nearer the try line has a calming influence. Watching my grandson play union the other week a lad on the other side started arguing with the referee. The coach shouted him over and told him he was coming off as we don’t carry on like that with people giving up their time to referee (and credit to them, refereeing rugby at any level is somewhat complex to say the least). You wouldn’t have seen that in junior football, the oher players would have joined in with parents shouting their support of the misbehaviour.

I was actually referring to RL kicking. Still not up to RU standards but it's improved hugely in the last 5 years.

Read it again and now noticed that. I skipped through and missed the change from the first sentence and assumed you were still talking about the women.

Have 1.6 million people left New Zealand since their last census? New Zealand despite their small population and such a lack of interest in Rugby League that they have only one professional club which has to play in Australia have won the RL World Cup something England has never done.
Some chances in both codes as Italy beat Australia in union today. Which can only be good for RL and Union not having the same countries dominant all the time.

You seem to happy about the fact that England have not won the cup.

Like rugby fans who are happy at England failing to win? I wanted them to win just as I want any English team in any sport to win.

Never expected England to win the RL World Cup, they never have done and I didn’t expect them to start now.. They had a load of easy games and the only question was if they or someone else lost to Australia in the final.
