Bruce was playing in midfield, it was a straight swap.

I know he's a centre back, but yesterday he played central midfield and that's why he was replaced by a central midfielder.

He is possibly the last player i'd want playing in midfield if I had your choice of centre halves.

Surely Chester would have been better there?

I wouldn't say he'd be the last player we would want playing in midfield and yes, I suspect that many would have thought that Chester might have been a more obvious choice. However, apparently Bruce has played in midfield a few years back and, knowing this Steve Bruce decided that he was a better option. Obviously a good decision as he did play very well in that role (a surprise to me as I think that his distribution isn't the best aspect of his game).
Looking back a few weeks to when you lost at Milwall it is noticeable that there was a thread on here about teams being able to "bully" Leicester and the defeat there was an example of this. Steve Bruce was obviously aware that this can be a problem for our team as well and decided to put out a slightly unorthodox team which was better suited to dealing with Milwall's more physical approach - wise move as it turned out.

I certainly wouldn't have played him there, but Steve decided it was the best option and it worked, which is probably why he's manager of Hull City and I'm not.

    Tonight

Watford V Crystal Palace live on Sky

    Tommorow

    Huddersfield V Cardiff
    Middlesbrough V Barnsley

Brighton V Hull 5.20 live on Sky

This could be a massive weekend for us with at least 2 of our rivals guaranteed to drop points

    Interesting.

I think anything but a Watford win tonight would be good. They are by far the bigger threat than Palace.

A draw in that game and we stay 2nd, anything else and we drop, which wouldn't be nice, even though we will have games in hand. Hmm! My predictions are...

    Watford
    Cardiff
    Middlesbrough
    Brighton vs Hull - Draw

And I think we'll draw away at Posh too.

Right lets see what all the fuss about Vydra is about

We want a draw with both teams getting alot of injuries and sending offs <ok>

Should either team win they will go 2nd until tommorow, but both us and Hull will have 2 games in hand on both teams

Decent result for us tonight - hopefully we don't shoot ourselves in the foot tomorrow and lose!

Yet again a great result for us. both Watford and Palace have now played 2 games more than us. It seems no one wants to take 2nd spot of us!!!!! Maybe tomorrow it will change

The two young midfielders, Chalobah and Williams have very bright futures.

Totally left my mind that Watford were playing Palace tonight, even though I only commented on it earlier in the day!

Good result for us though, nice to still be in 2nd spot for another day :)

Today could be a massive day for us. We need to win and hope Hull drop points and Neil Danns does us a favour against Cardiff. We could build a bit of a gap as next week we are in the FA Cup while teams are playing in the league so we need to make sure we dont play catch up
