I do agree though but he might have scored a few another way though<ok> But it seems Newcastle and hopefully others don't know how to play us without Luis playing, anyways, our passing has been very good today
 
Sturridge raped Newcastle last season, seems to enjoy the open space. Newcastle have pretty much got 2 away games to save their season, if they don't win one of them they are going into the last day of the season needing to beat Arsenal at home.
 
Still maintain we should've kept Sturridge and given him a chance. He was disliked for no reason by the majority of our fanbase.

He shows flashes of real brilliance, just hope he can sustain that kind pf play, he did some great stuff v yer lot in the 2 2, the turn n shot was top class

Would imagine it would be hard to guarantee him games at Chelsea though.
 
I think he's brilliant, touch of arrogance but not too much. I also quite liked the fact he kept the ball, we often needed someone to get a grip of games when AVB was in charge and it's no surprise he finished joint top scorer last season despite being shoved out of position. I would much rather we had given Sturridge the number 9 role than Torres.

Situational irony mate. An incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the expected result. After all you ****ers whining about how you expected the Suarez ban was going to destroy the end of the season and ruin the start of next, it would be highly ironic if it actually enhanced your performances. It will be ironic if what you expected to harm you was actually the best thing that could have happened for you.

Be interesting to see what will happen if you keep playing this well and incisively for the next nine games - Suarez may actually have to step up his impact to justify being the main man again come October. Tho' that's possibly leaping too far ahead given your capacity for self destruction!

I think Suarez is a superb player but I do think he compromises other players at times too. I've lost count of the number of times I've screamed at the TV because he's tried to do it on his own when there is a simple pass for a tap-in, it is like he doesn't trust his teammates to finish the job off at times.

I don't think we would sell him but if we did go on the win most of our games without him, hopefully the management would look at the situation with open eyes and look at what £40m could do for our team. We wouldn't be able to replace Suarez but, if spent correctly, we could build a side capable of getting back into the top four on a regular basis IMO.

Someone on our match thread mentioned our much improve conversion rate today, my response was something along the lines of 'the biggest culprit for missing chances won't be able to play for us until October'.

Just for the record though, I love Suarez (the player) and I don't want to see him leave. I genuinely think he is one of the best players in the league but, like all players, he has his faults (I'm talking purely football here).

Suarez is an amazing player as an individual but he is not a team player. Most on here will treat this question as a WUM because of who i support but it is a serious question, did you score more goals and perform better as a team when he was banned last season or was this just my perspective?

NOTE, i am not stating this as a fact, but asking a question because i only see snatches of Liverpool games on tv.

I might be wrong (it is over a year ago) but I think we won six of the nine games (don't know why it was nine rather than eight, possibly injury) he missed.

I disagree with your team player comment but I guess that depends how you look at it. You won't find a player that works harder for the team then him but, as I said above, he does look to do things on his own too often when attacking.

We've had discussions about our Premier League strikers on our board a few times. every single time I say that without doubt, if I could choose between Suarez, Torres, Fowler, Owen etc, I would pick Fowler every time. The other three were /are all capable of producing something for themselves (whilst at Liverpool) whereas Fowler needed the service, but if a in-from Robbie was in the current Liverpool team he would bag forty goals a season IMO.
 
Congrats to Liverpool for a splendid performance. In terms of English players, Sturridge and Henderson are looking a lot more promising. And thanks too for proving my belief that Pardew is not much of a manager, despite his impeccable media skills. Newcastle fans must be wondering what the hell is going on, they've even stopped scoring freak goals.
 
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher will join the Sky Sports punditry team for the 2013/14 season.
The 35-year-old, who will retire from playing at the end of the current campaign, will work alongside the likes of Gary Neville, Graeme Souness, Jamie Redknapp and Alan Smith next term when Sky Sports brings you over 500 matches from the domestic, European and International games.

Carragher has spent his entire career at Liverpool, racking up over 730 appearances and winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, two FA Cups and three League Cups.

And the Bootle-born star who, after Ryan Giggs is just the second player to play over 500 Premier League games for one club, says he can't wait to begin his new role.
"I watch Sky Sports all the time and I'm a huge fan. I can't wait to be part of their coverage and work with the best in the business," said Carragher, who will make his bow in August.

"What Sky has done for football for over 20 years is incredible and I'm thrilled to be part of their exciting plans for next season.
