From a purely business perspective there is no arguing that the Pogba transfer was a bad deal. You let (yes, the player has a say, but this is business perspective) an asset go for next to nothing and then bought that same (yes, improved) asset back 4 years later for a massive fee.
The complete opposite can be said for the David Luiz transfer from/to Chelsea (although maybe not improved).

Yeah, he'll make back some/all of that transfer fee in shirt sales but he might have purely made that same amount in shirt sales had he remained at the club in the first place.

I have a feeling however that the Pogba and Luiz transfers will probably be viewed differently in a few years with Pogba looking like a "bargain" (eugh, £90m a bargain!) and Luiz looking like a waste of £34m despite him being bought back cheaper than he was sold.
I had been watching Luiz at PSG last season and thought he was tremendous, but saying that, they had won the French League by Christmas(?) so it may have been easy for him......and now God is at Man U,PSG may find it difficult to score goals.

Hull City's takeover hits problems and it is believed that the potential purchasers have failed the 'fit and proper persons test'. Who are these guys? Given the collection of liars, cheats, thieves, charlatans, embezzlers, dictators, pornographers, dodgy geezers, idiots and clowns who have passed the 'test', what on earth can they have done?

They were very honest.

That's deeply suspicious. What are they up to? Better not take any chances.

Reactions: Diego
All this talk of a European Super league just makes me wish UEFA would actually just sod off to their private club so they can play the same boring games over and over again. Wonder how many real fans would stay and support their teams and how many "fan" clubs (like FC United of Manchester) would spring up. Then we can have the real teams in real leagues left to play proper competitive football instead of hiding away like rich fat kids who are too afraid to compete.

Great bit of analysis from Phil McNumpty...

Manchester United's fans have been left stunned by that goal from Kevin de Bruyne after they had made such a bright start - and it was the sort of soft goal that will leave Jose Mourinho fuming.

De Bruyne simply reacted quicker than the dawdling Danny Blind to a routine through ball. There is now a spring in Manchester City's step after a slightly edgy opening.

Not sure why Moronho elected to start the 55-year old Danny Blind, especially when his 26-year old son was available...

Even without that, Utd made a bright start? Really? What's he watching?

2-0. Deserved.
Mourinho will be fuming and I'd expect at least one change at half-time.
No idea what his plan has been so far, but it's not working.
