Quite like Basel as a club, they do well for a team that sells most of its better players every season and still has a competitive team that plays good football. I would like to see us try to sign Schar, he's top quality, like we should have tried to sign shaqiri off them a couple of seasons ago when they beat us in the Europa league.

We're one of the names linked with him as the papers wildly speculate he's leaving Bayern sooner rather than later.

Geoff Boycott has said that he's supported Utd for 50 years and has never seen a defence so bad. 3rd in the table with a brand new coach, there's no pleasing some people. I wouldn't mind being in the same position.

He must of missed some of fergies time at united. Hes had to do exactly what lvg has done at times. Maybe not for half a season but a month here and there.

We lost 3-0 to fulham doing exactly that under fergie.

Wonder if rodgers wishes he hadnt kept saying he was gonna piss the suarez money up the wall on over priced mediocre players like spurs did with the bale money...cos from where I'm watching he did it with bells on <laugh>
It still to early to tell whether Chiriches/Paulinho/Capoue/Lamela/Eriksen/Chadli/Soladao are a better group than Moreno/Lovren/Can/Markovic/Lallana/Ballotelli/Lambert.

But it does at least show that trying to bring in seven players at once is no an easy task.

****ing glory hunter. Shouldn't he be supporting Barnsley or Leeds?

Of our seven signings, they break down something like this...
Quality signing: Eriksen
Shown glimpses: Lamela, Chadli
Disappointing: Soldado, Capoue, Chiriches
Bloody awful: Paulinho

4 of Pool's 7 new lads have Prem experience, a massive advantage to when we signed 7 guys with none.

Quality: Eriksen
Glimpses: Chadli
Disappointing: Lamela (only really shines in Europa), Capoue (mainly because of injuries).
Awful: Paulinho, Soldado, Chiriches.

Most disappointed in Paulinho, really thought we were making one of the best signings in years when we got him, he was the star man for Corinthians and becoming the key midfielder in an impressive Brazil side...
Soldado is the story of a striker just not adapting to the Prem, other top strikers have had this issue in the past.

If Lamela can improve (has the ability & potential too, though is getting frustrating) and Capoue can avoid further injuries, I'd consider that fairly successful, 4 out of 7. We lack a true worldie though, Eriksen in a few years can certainly be one but we haven't got that Modric/ Bale/ van der Vaart/ Berbatov style of key outfield player right now.

Quality + value for money - Eriksen

Glimpses + ditto - Chadli.

WTF! + Our Bollocks well and truly ripped off! - Lamela

Less occasional glimpses - Capoue, Chriches

Speechless! - Soldado, Paulinho

Ballotelli and Lambert have only got one PL goal this season.
Lovren has been rubbish and Lallana variable. In what way do you thing their PL experience is a 'massive advantage'? I'd take Chadli, Lamela, Soldado and Chiriches over that four
