From what I'm reading on this, as HIAG said, the courts take a pretty dim view of this offence. Apparently, the maximum sentence is 6 months in pokey. However, the courts can consider other penalties such as community service. It looks like it will depend on the individual court as to whether he goes to jail, or not.
I remember the local magistrates court near where I used to live in Surrey reputedly had magistrates descended from Judge Jeffries. They would probably have him strung up from a gallows outside, if they had their way..

The courts have just stuffed an MP (Huhne) away for 8mths 'soap on a rope' duty!, no leniency for a public figure there.

What a bullet that second one was but they had a huge let off a couple of minutes before,could have been 1-1.
Mascherano's just not a centre-half. Barca's defence really isn't all that, especially compared to the rest of their side.
their defence is crap, for sure. But, they had to take a risk and, as the commentator said, you almost have to bring your own ball when you play these guys. They don't let you play with theirs' very often.
