Villa need 3 more pts to secure top 5 (and CL via the PL) .
Their games after Spurs are:

1. Burnley
2. The Poool (who are currently are also on 58 pts)
3. Citeh

Would be quite a risk for them to lose to Spurs
due to a weakened team and trust in getting 3 pts
from 1/2.

Emery decided to take the risk.

Also, although I'm not crying, am I the only one that can see the ball move slightly with hand contact for the Utd 2nd goal? Or is age catching up with my eyesight.... <laugh>
What is worth crying about is the ridiculous state of the laws when we’re trying to decide if there was the most minimal contact with the hand - and it’s not conclusive either way even after watching the footage of it dozens of times.
Every week, virtually every very game time is being wasted analysing the most ridiculous and pedantic marginal issues.
Was there the faintest touch of the hand?
Was half a toenail offside?
It ruins the spectacle. And then we have to endure post match analysis of how getting the most marginal of decisions wrong, if, in fact, they were decided wrongly, changed to outcome of the game.

The Laws should be as fact driven as possible and this particular part of the handball Law is a yes or no answer. That's good not bad. Similarly there is absolutely no way that the offside Law can be written to make it anything other than a line decision. You can allow for uncertainty by saying eg that any breach by less than 5cm will be given as onside but that simply moves the toenail. As I understand it the technology already allows for uncertainty so no-one is being given offside by a toenail.
What ruins the spectacle for me is the constant cheating where everyone player ignores the 10 yard rule for free kicks, nearly all throw ins are taken ahead of the place where the ball went out etc. Spending a few seconds getting decisions right is not an issue.

The issue here (and often) is the lengths the officials are going to in deciding the “facts”. Of course the correct decision should always be made. However, delaying the game to meticulously analyse inconclusive evidence and therefore reach an inconclusive decision is the worst of all worlds.

I would advocate a few seconds only, especially if the evidence is inconclusive. Just move on. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Sport is enjoyed in the moment - that spontaneous euphoria; it ruins the spectacle when you have to pause and wait.
The one exception is an lbw in cricket; we’re conditioned to enjoy the jeopardy when there is a possible lbw - hoping it’s out or not out depending on which team you’re supporting.
That doesn’t work at all with a goal in football.

It is the forensic nature that irritates me the most. Then again that ball definitely changed trajectory yesterday but it would have been harsh...
