Arsenal fans are in meltdown on social media over that United defeat! A crazy over reaction IMO to 1 home defeat. All I can think of is that deep down they’re panicking that they’re gonna somehow bottle the league. I know they’ve got history of poor results towards the business end of the season which has been costly in the past, but there’s no way they **** this up, surely? Genuinely not wumming here. City are the worst they’ve been in years, Liverpool and Chelsea are bang average, and I don’t have faith (in what is a very good Villa side) to genuinely challenge them until the end. Arsenal don’t even have to be at their best to win it this year. It’ll be an unforgivable bottle job should it all go tits up.

Did you not see the collective headloss of Raya and their back four on the pitch when Villa scored a last minute winner in the Season Killer Cup a month or so ago?

Yup, already mentioned those alarming stats.

The PL campaign to date is effectively 2-1 wins per game.

That you don't have an on-track 20+ PL goals per season
striker + the above speaks well of the goal diversity of the
squad (for reference, Spurs gd scorer/assist stats are
currently 15/11) .

I think it's hard to be optimistic when we're playing the way we are in the league and when the manager has a history of making poor decisions that have cost us titles in the past.

I would still say we are slight favourites, but honestly, I just don't trust the manager. I don't trust him to figure out solutions to our problems in time.

It's hard to accept that after 6 years, plenty of money spent, rebuilding the squad in the image he wanted, that THIS iteration of Arsenal is what we have to show for it. It's not good enough.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - we are a much more capable side than what we've shown. We are too reliant on defensive rigidity, set-pieces and small margins going in our favour to win games. This is not sustainable for an entire season.

Until Arteta accepts this and stops playing this risk-averse, methodical, cumbersome style of football, I just can't be confident we will win the league this way.

And if we don't, that would be a damning indictment on him and his failures at the club.

I have seen the sentiment grow that Covid saved Arteta's job, as there weren't any fans in the Emiroids to call for his head for a year

They ****ing booed them off!
They're top of the league, top of the CL group, still in both domestic cups and they got booed off.
Lost by one goal to a team on a new manager bounce. BOOOOOOOOO!

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it, but still...

I think it was only a small section of fans who booed, but come on, PNP. The last 3 league games have been horrific and, whilst we're top of the league (for now), we've hardly been playing the most scintillating football for most of the season.

Arteta's style of play isn't my cup of tea, but I can stomach it if we win games.

When we stop winning games...then it becomes a problem. Because then what he's doing isn't effective anymore despite having a stacked squad of very good players, including the attack. Our top goalscorer(s) in the league have 5 goals. FIVE. We are ranked 17th for open play goals. You can't win the league this way. You just can't.

The season is on the precipice of spiralling rapidly out of control if he doesn't rebalance the team.

Deluded levels of supporter entitlement
(kindred to what I said the other week about
modern day Spurs supporters) .

Can't believe I'm saying this, but...
Leeds are a decent watch, playing really attractive well organised attacking football. They are playing Everton off their new park ATM.
What's really noticeable in contrast to us, is the crisp, fast passing from the back and some excellent keeper distribution.

Agreed. I’ve watched Leeds several times this season and I’m scratching my head trying to work out how they’re below us!
They’re also in decent form. I think they’ve only lost about once in 9 games or so, and they’re grinding out results. - which isn’t good for us, especially with Forest and West Ham picking up points recently. Really quite worrying.
Let’s hope Palace continue their downward spiral, because it’s hard to see when we’re gonna get out of the rut we’re currently in.

Maybe we need relegation

That would be the ultimate wake up for those still snoozing and dreaming about the way we do things

The hierarchy won’t be able to hide behind the ‘we tried’ rubbish

Tbh, I'm with you on this at this stage. Something fundamental has to change and if it takes that then so be it.

The only downside I can see is that the stadium may not be in a fit state to host sell-out concerts and boxing matches after Millwall have visited.... eh, DH?? <laugh>
