I don't think that the officials have much choice, unfortunately.
Gueye intentionally strikes Keane in the face. His post-card reaction is ludicrous, too.
It's a violent conduct red too, so he'll be banned for 3 games. Newcastle, Bournemouth and Forest.

There is ambiguity however. It is a subjective decision for the officials as to whether the action is significant (or words to that effect, I found the text the other day but for the life of me can't find it now!).
Just remember thinking at the time that there was no way Gueyes reaction would hit the threshold.

But then I realised the opponents were wearing red....<laugh>

If that was on Bruno Fernandes he'd still be rolling now.

Villa v Young Boys kicked off at 5.45pm at Villa Park.
That's not an appropriate time for a midweek game in England.
 
Mainz won their first 3 Europa Conference League games.
They lost today to Universitatea Craiova, a mediocre Romanian team.
The bookies will be happy, as usual.
 
Ii really cannot see the benefit of keepers halfway up the pitch. Palace score then moments later almost again
