It's too early to write them off but the signs aren't great.

In all likelihood, the game has started moving on from Pep. He practically defined a generation stylistically, but a new wave of manager seems to be coming into vogue now. Managers who ironically were raised on a staple diet of trying to stop Pep teams. Hard work, relentless running and high pressing seem to have edged out technical quality and individual brilliance.

Do you think that someone suggested it as a joke and he was hired by accident?
It's hard to see any reasonable way that they thought it was a good idea.

Regardless of any other opinions people may have on Levy, he got that one right.
I wonder what the concerns we had over him were, exactly?

If a lot of his squad of 2019 were driven by the
Ajax academy / DoF producing/buying several
players together at the right time rather than his
coaching/managerial nous, that would be good
reason to be wary.

Sky were saying he wanted to be more of a manager and they said head coach but you’d think they would have discussed this before the job was taken
