We don't even get that.
Jota would've been banned post-match prior to VAR. Now they don't even bother.
The way it's being applied over here is utter ****e, especially since Webb took over.

It's an open wound because it continues to happen. See Lindelof v Son the other day.
Carroll's got 4 title winners medals. Still a ****, cheating ****, though.

I think he just got the one (in the PL anyway), but it’s plenty.
The Mendes “goal” would have happened now because goal line technology would have awarded it instantly.

Not with goalline technology, no. The failure of VAR to act on that decision is still pathetic, though.

It’s like most decision making though in any walk of life. The integrity of it would be undermined if many decisions were overturned routinely on a review or appeal. So the starting point is to preserve the status quo. It leads to wrong decisions, but it’s not a result of corruption. It’s because they won’t undermine the officials.

TBF to var people are never happy.
When some decisions are made some complain its supposed to be for clear and obvious mistakes, when other marginal calls are made others think it's right that they called the refs attention to something that took them 4 mins and umpteen slow mo replays from different camera angles to get right.

I hate it and would happily go back to my days on the terrace when people screamed foul handball or whatever then was content to say "ref said no" and accept it.

They are the officials and they're undermining the whole game.

There's no way that the ref will see that. Awarding it wouldn't undermine him at all.

No way a ref standing just outside the area and watching players for infringements would see that but a ref Standing near the halfway line following the flight of a ball towards a goal should be able to see it cross the goal line. Sounds fair.

The ref's view is obscure by both the Inter player and the Milan number 8.
Clattenburg's view was obscured by his desire to get more games at Old Trafford.

This wasn`t even given a second thought either, deliberately handling the ball outside his area.

Paying refs different amounts for different games so that refereeing at United is more lucrative than Fulham is tantamount to corruption and has probably led to some suspect decisions.
