I think Phillips is actually a very decent player and considering West Ham value Rice at £100m+, getting Phillips for £45m (plus addons?) is somewhat a decent deal by general overpriced English player standards.

5 subs next season means he should get enough game time, albeit I do think he’ll feature on the bench more games than not. Doubt it’ll do his England chances too much harm but he’ll wanna make sure he gets enough minutes to keep his spot.

im assuming he’s going to replace Fernandinho or pretend to, at least.

I think its good business, City will play a lot of matches he can play alongside Rodri, he can cover CB, and he can play as a single holding MF player alongside a De Bruyne or a Silva, my current standards for a home grown international footballer he is relatively cheap (if £45 - £50m can ever be considered cheap!) and I think he will look a better player with better team mates.

Newcastle have announced their new shirt sleeve sponsor, noon.com.
It's basically ebay for the Middle East.
It's a joint venture between Mohamed Alabbar, an Emirati businessman and the PIF.
You know, the people that own Newcastle.

How's this been allowed then?

Never mind. Just seen this article that says the ban on these types of arrangements have been lifted:

Totally nothing to do with Newcastle being taken over by the Saudis, I'm sure. The timing is just a coincidence...
City had/have a bunch of them and just threatened everyone with lawyers if they objected.
You let crooks into your group and they're going to abuse the **** out of it.
