I am surprised no one has yet mentioned what a complete dick Michael Owen was last night. He was talking such tosh that I did wonder if he was pissed.
Judging by the way he was still saying Bottlepool were the best team in the world fifteen minutes after the final whistle, he clearly was

In the American sense of the word...

That's just him. He's part of the reason why I no longer watch the pre-match and post-match stuff. His stupid and partizan comments are something that I can do without.

Fabrizio Romano is claiming that Mane will leave Liverpool this summer. Whilst they’ve signed the likes of Jota and Diaz and obviously have quality in attack, I do wonder whether they might find themselves in a bit of a transition spell soon. Milner and Henderson aren’t getting any younger, and Salah’s contract is up soon.
And in a matter of days, they’ve missed out on the Premier league title and CL glory. - that could have an interesting impact psychologically.

Huge loss for them, great player.

They’ve bought really well over the last 4 or 5 years though so it’ll be interesting to see if they can replace that quality.

Ralf’s also leaving Utd permanently, not taking up the consultancy role.

So that all worked out well for them… hired a guy that hadn’t managed for a couple years to take a job til the end of the season in which he’d then move upstairs to work on where he seemingly specialises more, only to now **** off to manage the Austrian national team having made Utd look even worse than they were under Solskjaer.

Impressive.

i agree. Don’t understand why he’s leaving to be honest, unless he’s genuinely after a new/different challenge.

seriously bizarre decisions from the Utd hierarchy.

Probably is the latter to be fair. Won everything with them so makes sense to try something new. Think Bayern are looking to get him.

I didn't realise until recently though that him, Salah and Firmino all only have 12 months left on their deals. Very precarious situation for Liverpool I'd say. Likely won't get their market values (Salah and Mane £100m? Firmino £50m?) as clubs will be looking to exploit the contract situations. Edwards has done some unreal business but this could be his biggest task now to either sell and replace or try to renew Firmino/ Salah.

Yeah it's nuts.

Their fall from grace has probably been the biggest of the elite clubs in recent times and you have to primarily pin it on the decisions from above. When you consider many still view Utd as the biggest/ second biggest club on the planet, they're an absolute laughing stock at this moment in time, miles away from City and Pool, some way off Chelsea and even both Spurs and Arsenal who comfortably finished above them this season. They've bought and hired so poorly it makes me feel better about our spending over last 5 years prior to this season.

Be interesting to see how ten Hag does though, this has probably been - on paper - their smartest appointment for a while. They really need it to work too.

Actually their decline from the end of their empire is not
much different to that experienced by the Poool.

In comparative terms (inflation adjusted etc) , I do not know
what the revenue differences were in 1999 between the
Poool and those clubs finishing above them in the league,
and similarly for Man Utd now.

From this, Man Utd do have the advantage of knowing how
prolonged it could be, if they were to mirror the Poool.

Edwards has left Varpool and is to be replaced by his assistant Julian Ward.

Klopp post game " When the goalkeeper is man-of-the- match, then something is wrong , **** me , a goalkeeper doing the job he's paid for , that's clearly not acceptable for him

Klopp's obviously a very successful manager. I'm reluctant to admit it, but I like hearing him talk most of the time, because he has, for the most part, a positive spirit and a good sense of humor.

But he also has a whiny bitch side which is absolutely insufferable. So I enjoy the fact he has now lost 3/4 CL finals and the one he won
1. Liverpool was playing Spurs, a team which hasn't turned up for a Cup final in over a decade.
2. Liverpool won thanks to the dodgiest of pens.
Not to imply that 1 and 2 are related.
