A few years ago we had to play on a Thursday night in Sevilla and then play Chelsea in the PL on the Saturday lunchtime game. Less than 48 hours between games. This season we played Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. 4 games in within 170 hours. That is being set up to fail. Wednesday and Saturday is normal if you are in the CL
I remember how in our first CL season we had a trip to the San Siro on Wednesday followed by a Saturday lunchtime kickoff against Everton

Given the team wouldn't have got back to London until the small hours of Thursday morning at the earliest, it did feel mean even by the usual standards of the fixture list shredder that is Skyte Sports

I actually thought in the season we were chasing Leicester that the three consecutive Monday nights was quite special. Not for the fatigue obviously, but the idea of having the chasing club always following the leaders. Clearly a more exciting setup would for it to have been the other way round, though that would have spoiled the Leicester Fairytale (TM). I remember a couple of people on the phone to TalkShite about it, and being told to shut up as it didn't make any difference. You can imagine how it would have gone down having the Sky favourites doing the chasing (well it wouldn't have happened, would it).

So question, still any doubters now about how quality Grealish is?

Because I’m the type of egotistical prick who’ll gladly say “I told you so” :)

Grealish and Watkins would stroll their way into the Arsenal team blindfolded - both of them were electric tonight. Put our bunch of jokers to shame.

Two players I've wanted at Spurs for years as well. Grealish is just such a baller, easily one of the best players in the Prem right now, easily.

Strange start to the first quarter of the season.
Only certainty is that PL stattery will tell us all on Jan 1.
Between now and then, god knows how the results will go.

What is it ??
A combo of no home crowds + VAR jobsworth Nazis ??

If less pre-season is to be blamed, then we should by definition
expect to see all the usual suspects kick into gear together and
collectively pull away from the rest.

In a weird way we've had a bit of a blessing having to play in Europa, more so that the three qualifiers we also had to play essentially acted as a bit of pre-season for us too.

It's meant we've been able to largely field rotated sides which has then allowed us to have a lot of players relatively fit and ready to play. No one has really been massively overrun yet which is good.

We'll see more as the season goes on how it affects us but so far with regards to the start of the season, I think the Europa really has done us a bit of a favour. If we were in CL, Kane and Son would no doubt be ran into the ground by now along with one or two others. Whereas those not in Europe haven't had a massive amount of pre-season and game time to get as fluid and fit as we have.

Love the idea that the media and punters are waking up to the idea of match congestion and tired players because their team suffered this weekend.

Where were they when we were playing Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday , Sunday?

Also headlines of Vardy having a great season having scored 9! goals. Fail to mention 5 were penalties.

Media.

In fairness I would have looked like a baller against the arse last night <laugh>

True, true.

You finally on the Grealish hype train now though, mate? If so, welcome aboard, you’ll enjoy the journey.

We’ll sign him soon. It’s only been three years like but I’m confident we’ll get him soon. Another year or two at worst...

Jack Wheelchair when asked if he would ever join Tottenham:

'Ah I love Mourinho as well, I think he’s an unbelievable coach,' Wilshere said. 'But I don’t think I could do it! Let’s be honest as well, they wouldn’t have me! I don’t think I could do it’

What a prize ****. What an Arsenal man - ‘thinks he couldn’t do it’, but maybe he could.

And yeah let’s be real, we wouldn’t take you, ya prize pillock
