Cliches to be deployed by the pundits now:
Only the great teams win while not playing well.
He felt the touch so he went down.
Liverpool had a dodgy penalty given against them against Sheff U.

Equally valid arguments not to be used:
Not every team would have got that penalty in exactly the same circumstances.
Salah dived.
Liverpool didn't have a penalty given against them with a far more penalty-worthy incident against Sheff U.

I've lost count how many teams have been described as unlucky for not getting anything out of Liverpool games this season and last. However while their opposition have been described as unlucky many times, not once have Liverpool been described as lucky.

Luck plays an enormous part in football.
In West Ham's last two matches they have had a last minute corner which was cleared to one of their players on the edge of the area. In one case they scored a worldy into the top corner and in the other made nothing of it at all. If it had happened the other way around there would be a 4 point relative swing in points. Could make all the difference.

If the 'challenge' that was made on Salah was on Lucas or Son I am sure that we would all want the penalty awarded in our favour, therefore it is hypocritical to moan about it being awarded to Liverpool.

I accept the argument that they do get these decisions more frequently but inconsistency amongst referees and a favouring of the 'bigger' teams in football is not exactly new.

'Never get a penalty at Old Trafford...'

Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal

Manchester United have conceded five penalties in their last seven PL home games, having conceded five in their previous 101 such games.

Paul Pogba has given away three Premier League penalties since Ole Gunnar Solskjær took charge of Manchester United,
with no other player doing so more than once for the Red Devils during his tenure.

Arsenal are happy with their result, despite scoring five less goals than us at Old Trafford. <whistle>
