Its excessive when you compare it to Silvas ban for posting (himself, not leaked) on twatter a racist comment about a team mate. Not to mention raheem "kick it out" sterling backing said racist. Where was his outrage there? Must of misplaced it. <laugh>

One was someone being blatantly and admittedly offensive, while the other is a possible misunderstanding.
Funny that you lot seem to have forgotten the "cultural misunderstanding" of Luis Suarez all of a sudden, isn't it?
If Silva was a Liverpool player, then you'd get the t-shirts out and claim persecution! <laugh>

No evidence apart from evra saying he said what he did.

So compare that to silva and what do you have?

The same Suarez banned for 10 games for biting Ivanovic, 7 games for biting Bakkal and got away with a clear biting of Chiellini at the World Cup?

Does anyone with any 'sense' actually think that Bernardo Silvas tweet was actually racist? Stupid, maybe even naïve I will accept, but not in the least bit racist. When his friend, who he sent it too got 'the joke' and publicly supported him, then this is just a snowflakes convention as far as I am concerned. He will hopefully learn a valuable lesson and will no doubt accept his punishment with good grace.

People are all too quick to find racism when it isn't there.
Their attitude is counterproductive - it creates divisions and differences and creates an "us and them" mentality.
People's characteristics will always be a source of comment - even to the extent of poking fun. Just because a comment about somebody who is non white might be poking fun or less than complimentary doesn't make it racist. The standard joke about Brits abroad on the beach is that they look like milk bottles because of their pasty skin. Does anyone in their right mind think such a comment is racist if it was made by non white person? Of course not. But if the boot was on the other foot ....
If you look at a person of a different race/colour/creed and see them as different and think that they should be treated different!y because they are seen as a special case, then it's your attitude that is questionable. This perpetrates discrimination - and there is no such thing as positive discrimination.

Aint that the truth, Suarez was the dirtiest player ever to play in the PL, yet got away with murder on the pitch because he wore a Liverpool shirt.

I obviously lack basic English skills to understand the point you are making here? Is your point just based on grammar or something else? Anyone who hates a race (or usually other races) is racist, as good a definition of the term as any other.

Would I be right to say that you think racism needs defining?
For example people are prone to describe Islamophobia as racist when it's clearly not about a race but a religion. They also seek to merge disagreement or even contempt for Islam with abuse of Islamic individuals, when it should be treated differently. In other words it's ok to hate the religion but it's not ok to hate followers of it.
The same with so called antisemitism. Again people are attempting to merge criticisms of Israel with hatred of Jews. many Jews themselves are anti Israel for example.
All of this dilutes racism and almost helps to promote it rather than stop it. I think it's important for these terms to be difined clearly and at the moment most effort appears to be going into clouding the issues.

1. <X>ism - a belief/notion/theory based on or relating to <X> .
<X>ist - one who advocates/believes/proposes notions/theories based on / relating to <X> .

So when <X> = Race :

Where is the inference that "racist" = "race hater" ??

There is none.
Therefore a certain group of people are engaging in what George Orwell called in
his book "1984" acts of "Newspeak" .

You can replace "ism/ist" with "phobia/phobe" and the premise is exactly the same.


2. On the Suarez/Evra incident

a) Suarez made a racially OFFENSIVE remark to Evra.

b) From it there is no inference as to what (true) "racist" ideas Suarez subscribes to,
or that he is in fact a (afro-caribbean) "race hater"

c) Suarez should not have done (a) both on principle, and the fact that a certain group of
people exist who do neither understand nor care about (b) lest it gets in their way of
attempting to make trouble for others at the first proverbial scent of blood.

Anti-Semitism is to be in opposition to Jews.
The question then becomes : why is someone in opposition to Jews ??

Or (according to my Jewish acquaintances who are long-time Labour supporters)
using anti-Israel sentiment to mask actual hatred of / action against Jews.
