Yet another damning indictment on Emery. This thread is from a Valencia fan. It's interesting that, even though he got successive top 3 finishes with Valencia on a shoestring budget, the fans never warmed to him because they felt he was too restrictive of their attacking talents. Mata, Villa, Silva, Joaquin, Baraja etc. And even 10 years ago, his away form was heavily scrutinised by avid La Liga followers.
So it seems like he hasn't changed at all.
This is so negative, cowardly and spineless. He clearly doesn't have the mindset to be an Arsenal manager.
The sooner we get rid of him, the better our chances of CL qualification are!

I'm struggling to see the club that awarded Wenger that final 2 year deal, being in a mad rush to get rid of him this early in the season. If the wheels come off to the point where he's lost the dressing room or you lose a few on the trot, then...maybe?
Given the players you're due to get back, I think he's nowhere near the exit. The fans need to get behind the players and see where it takes you...believe me, this is the voice of too many such experiences.

But being 4 pts down on last season (and GD similar) , after only 5 games,
should set the alarm bells ringing big-time. You cannot trot out "players
due back" etc when there may be systemic issues.
You certainly can. Such lines are trotted out in businesses every day by managers overseeing systemic failure and hoping against hope that things will turn around before they get sacked.
Arsenal's management were very close to appointing Arteta last summer and somebody in the senior management of that club picked Emery above him and the other options. They may very well have been an employee, as opposed to Kroenke or Kroenke Jr (who know **** all about 'soccerball') and they could have staked their job on Emery's appointment and then backing him this summer with players that they don't have the readies for. That person(s) will have plenty of good reason trot that line out...whether it's true or not. I guarantee Emery's using it.
Daniel Levy has a great deal of latitude to hire and fire and has been given licence to get it wrong a number of times. Probably because he is a part owner and almost 'family' to Uncle Joe. Commolli got it wrong the once with Juande Ramos and was shown the door along with him. It's the difference between ownership and control.
Owners can do what the **** they like. Those they appoint to control their investment have to manage expectations and failure often leads to the owner clearing house. Someone at Arsenal is going to be praying that Emery gets it right...and soon.
In the meantime...."We shouldn't be too hasty as we've got players coming back from injury, who will make all the difference."

The senior figures in charge of Arsenal that gave Wenger the 2-year deal aren't the same people who are in charge now. And they're not going to give Emery ample time to assert his authority on the team. Hence why he was given a contract until 2020 to get us back into the Champions League. Let's say he does see out the end of the season. If he doesn't deliver Champions League football, he's 100% a goner. They're not going to renew his contract if he doesn't do what the club brought him in to do. My gut feeling is that he won't even last that long, but that's a separate discussion.
RE the player coming back from injury: this is a fair point, but as I said on the Arsenal board, you can't rely on all your players remaining fit for the entire season. It rarely ever happens. Football is a game about squad management and resource management. Emery hasn't done well with either.
He's on borrowed time.

I agree that he won't get a renewed contract, unless he ups his game and delivers Top 4 or a EL win. However, replacing a manager mid-term is a bit 'hit or miss' and unless you've got a specific appointment in mind or things completely fall apart, he should definitely make it to Christmas, especially as Wenger was given time by Kroenke to **** it up for the entirety of one last season.
I doubt that anyone at the club gets to make the decision without Stan's say so and he's not been given to any rash decisions so far. I reckon Emery will probably get to see out most/all of the seaon, if you're still in the fight for CL places or if your chosen replacement is not available until the summer.
If we're still in contention for CL football by Xmas, I will concede he is begrudingly likely to stay until the end of the season/until that option is no longer available. Even if I think he should be gone sooner. But I really think it depends on how the fans collectlvely react toward him too. Because some of the statistics going against him are staggeringly poor.

Even if he gets top 4, we need to see a substantial difference in the performance of the team otherwise the chances of him staying are far from guaranteed.
There are plenty of rumours going around that the players are frustrated with his training drills and they don't pay much attention to his 2-hour video analysis sessions. If this is true, then it may not be long before he departs.
If it is looking highly unlikely we will get CL football by Xmas, and we do decide to get rid, then as I said in a previous post, I honestly wouldn't mind Freddie Ljunberg taking over until the end of the campaign. At least he would potentially bring some joy to Arsenal and is well-respected at the club.
How much input Kroenke actually gives toward the manager's future is beyond me, as he's never here (even though his son is). But assuming he is still adopting the whole laissez-faire approach, if Raul, Vinai and Edu are unimpressed with Emery, it shouldn't come as a surprise for him be sacked.

Horrendous starts to the campaign for the Scousers and Chavs. My heart bleeds for them, truly it does.
Barca were extremely fortunate to get a point against Dortmund to say the least. Dortmund absolutely battered them in the second-half. Shame the likes of Reus, Sancho and Alcacer missed some guilt-edged chances.
