Has the Brighton football been so dour because of Chrissy,
or because of their financial constraints on improving the squad ??
Results have been poor and the players brought in have been too. Their best players are the ones who got them into the PL.
Chairmen are very scared of dropping out of the PL because of the loss of revenue - and Brighton came close.
He deserved to be given longer, but managers don't get time now. Few other clubs would have given him any longer.

Let's wait and see whether the replacement is better. Hughton does a good job wherever he goes and possibly he is doing the best job possible with the squad that he has. Recruitment has been the issue, so my judgement would be based on whether he has a say in that.
The replacement could well be worse - that frequently happens but few clubs these days can afford to stick with a manager they believe could get them relegated. Oddly Hughton was one of the longer serving Prem managers so it is not as if he has not had a fair crack of the whip or that the club do not know both his positives and negatives. It is sad but it is modern day football and think how many of Brighton's relegation rivals changed their manager this year..

Give Chris a chance with big money.Chelsea for instance when they fire their manager or United. If he screws up we will know he's another Perdew!

If he agreed to have a £60m buyout clause in his contract then he is a mug

Buyout clauses are there to just safeguard a player doesn’t leave for peanuts mate. They’re pretty irrelevant otherwise.

Ronaldo had a £1bn at Real... he was sold for £100m.

Gwaaarn the baggies! Few more goals please. Then Super Jack will be ours!

Yes there's a queue of top 6 clubs trying to sign him. He may be good, he may not be, can performance in the Championship be a good indicator of how they will perform in the PL, particularly at the top of the PL. The figures quoted are really high to be taking a chance.

Ironic isn't it! All I read in the English media are articles and comments on how wonderful Man City are. It takes a German newspaper to report on their breaking of FFP. Uefa are to consider banning them from the CL. Meantime Spurs did it for them <laugh>
I have no respect for City at all, to me their winning of the league is a sad day for football. Relegate them to league 4.

The silence from British media is deafening, particularly TalkShite. Considering the lack of any serious discussion about Citeh (other than how good they are, how they have the best manager on the planet etc) on that station, it does make me wonder if there is some kind of agreement between News International and the Citeh owners about not delving into their money? Even when the news was reported recently, they did little analysis and a lot of defending Citeh, in the name of balance of course. Even chief-WUM Durham stays away from any wumming of Citeh. Meanwhile Citeh carry on doing the financial accounting version of "hiding in plain sight".

Why? I quite like Brighton and they clearly feel Hughton is not going to take them further so why retain him? They nearly got relegated and that would cost £100m. He has had nearly 5 years - done pretty well but not shown he is likely to do better. If the club believe they can get a better manager why wouldn't they?

I remember another club that considered itself settled in the PL having been mid-table for a few seasons, then decided their manager had taken them as far as he could as they wanted to push on. I think it was Charlton.

Yeah there were queues of top six clubs when we were trying to sign Vertonghen, Alli, Dier, Lucas and Son too.
