It shows that success requires all parts of the club to function properly. Everyone with a meaningful role has to perform - from the owners to senior management to the manager and the coaching staff to the players.
Utd presently don't have a joined up strategy for how the club should operate.
There is nobody keeping a proper rein on the purse strings.
Nobody is identifying how players should be recruited and what the pay structure is.
There is no plan about how to develop young players and progress them through the ranks.
There was no plan to appoint a manager with a vision for the club and a blueprint for success (why allow Liverpool to get Klopp?). SAF needed to be succeeded by someone of similar stature.
There has been a knee jerk reaction to transfer policy. Players have not been recruited who have either the ability/quality or diligence/determination to succeed at the level required.
There is only so long that the club can rely on past glories to maintain popularity and therefore income streams.
Soon association with Manchester Utd will be identified as failure.
In our narcissistic world, no fans want to be associated with failure.

I can't disagree with any of that. The Glazers, like Kroenke, were completely in the hands of the incumbent manager with no knowledge of what to do without their man. Fair dues to him, Kroenke has brought in football men like Raul Sellehi and Misinslat.

United's approach shows little thought or understanding of business principles, let alone football management. Appointing Moyes was okay but giving him no time wasn't. Van Gaal was the right man at the wrong time, Mourinho the wrong man at the wrong time and Solskjaer.....? It looks all wrong.

When you're in a hole, it's fairly good advice to stop digging. United really need someone who has the ability and commitment to see through a measured 3-5 year plan. No more trying to turn it around in 1 season. I wonder if it'll happen?
