Young completed 3 crosses in 90 minutes. Lukaku, though he scored, still has one of the worst first touches I've ever seen. He never looks comfortable running with the ball or running off the ball. Can't imagine how frustrating it is to play with a striker so technically inept.

Matic and Fellaini were both useless unless they were trying to give possession away or commit cheap fouls.

Pogba was totally bossed by Lemina in midfield (who I think should be at a bigger club than Southampton).

Redmond was causing lots of problems for United's defence. However, his finishing left a lot to be desired. He has 1 goal in his last 54 appearances and it wasn't hard to see why.

To be honest though, United made Southampton look a lot better than they were.

A point at St. Mary's 3-4 years ago wouldn't be a bad result; a point there now, when you are already falling behind the pack, is very poor.

United will probably beat us in midweek as they always do at OT, but I am almost certain Mourinho's promise of United being in the top 4 by Christmas will be an empty one.

For less than half the money that United are paying Mourinho, I'd expect them to be able to employ a manager who has a vision of how he wants to play, which players are capable of delivering that, which players need to be sold on, which positions need strengthening and who is capable of providing top performances in those positions.

Luke's drunk driver analogy is spot on but across the club, not just those on the pitch at any time. With a desperate need for a wide right forward and a new defence, Woodward and Mourinho signed Alexis Sanchez on wages that have pissed off their one really top class player. It's time for an Arsenal post-Wenger clear out and a fresh start. From Woodward down, it ain't working and it's not getting any better either.

I could forgive Mourinho for turning Utd into a George Graham era Arsenal - even though it kicks against everything the club purports to stand for.
That would at least represent a plan to make the club competitive.
The present shambles is a castrophe.
Utd are spending big money to achieve chaos - no direction, no ambition, no commitment, no unity...
It's a state of affairs which even the best manager would struggle to resolve in five years or more.
It would be better for the club for sell all the players in the summer and bring in a new manager who could start from stratch.

I wouldn't disagree. There's no indication of him knowing how to play or who to play. If it turned out that some selections were made by drawing lots, I could believe it. The 3 at the back disasters have been particularly mystifying, short lived and lacking in practice. Players seem to come into favour and go out again with little rhyme or reason.

If United went with 'The Dice Man' method, I'm not sure anyone could tell the difference right now.

An example of what is wring with Mourinho is his treatment of Fosu-Mensa. I remember when we came up against him. For an hour he was superb offered us nothing. The weirdly he was taken off and we were very quickly 3 up. You'd think a team thats struggling for a right back would have developed but he us off on loan somewhere now.
 
Because the Copa Libertadores final hasn't been farcical for a whole 72 hours, now River Plate are refusing to play the second leg at the Francobunker

Strangely this hasn't led to Boca saying the tie should be awarded to them by default...

Strange timing for sure.
They played a lot better in the game too.
But I'm surprised they even appointed him.
He won at Swansea - which relegated them and kept Soton up - but apart from that they've been very poor under him.

Six months into a three-year contract too

...which begs the question why anyone would offer him a three-year contract, given his record of taking over teams with a reputation for being hard to beat and trying to make them play attractive football, but as he tries that with the players he inherited he usually makes them bloody easy to beat - which is problematic for Southampton as they didn't have a Pulis-type in charge making them hard to beat in the first place

I have no idea if this is true, but from the comments on Twitter I am certain that everyone who commented believes it. Now I have no deep insight into the matter but I know that if I wanted to discredit someone, this is just the sort of story I would come up with. Also there needs to be better evidence than one person posting this. Other people reposting the same story is not evidence. It's a very sad state of affairs in the modern world that stories on social media, which may be true, but equally could be complete fabrication, are assumed to be true, and a lot of stuff that is heard on more mainstream media is not believed. Now mainstream media might not be accurate and it might be biased, but it isn't going to publish this sort of story without having something to back it up in case of legal action. Unfortunately social media is way ahead of this, and I can only assume that some of the people who are jumping on this bandwagon would not like to have an unsubstantiated story published about them which isn't true, and where they have no comeback. Burn him, he's a witch!
