In two and a half years he won the CL three times in a row. Also won one league title and several other trophies too.
This is Real Madrid we are talking about he has failed TWICE to win the league. This for a club that has the pick of world players. I am not impressed. Hughton's efforts at Brighton are far more impressive or Eddie Howe's at Bournemouth. I wouldn't want Zidane anywhere near Spurs.

you mean once as that first season Benitez had real miles behind.

This was ZIdane's record in the first season when he took over from benitez:

How much do you think Real have spent since he's been there? admittedly he had some world class players at his disposal but he has about a net spend of -50m and the last time Real won the league before Zidane was with Jose in 11/12 and then with capello in 07/08.

You might not rate him which is fair enough, but he's only really failed to win the league once (miles behind this year) and he hasn't had a pick of any players.

I suppose as a fan of a prima donna club with a prima donna manager you would know. You have him then.

Three champions league wins in a row is phenomenal and won’t be repeated again in our lifetime. Yes it was with Real Madrid but nevertheless still amazing and shows ZZ must have done something right.

I’m not even saying I want him over Poch, just saying I wouldn’t be gutted if that happened.

Anyway Pochettino is the perfect manager for Spurs, no way I want to step back into the dark ages with Zee Zee

Let’s see what Poch does, I don’t have faith that he can turn down RM even with his new Spurs contract and ultimately if he wants to go then the club have to let him go.

There is no proof that Zidane can improve a squad to
perform much better than their on-paper value/talent would
suggest when he first arrived.

Pochettino has done so twice (with Soton and Spurs) .

i'll take that response. Play the man instead of my sensibly put argument.

It has only been a short period and no one knows how well he'll do if he has to rebuild a club, but no other manager has a better record than 3 CLs and 1 League trophy irrespective of what club they have been at

Your argument was far too sensible for ZZ and far too sensible for Abramovich's liking I bet.

Sensible - Chelsea Fan? Chelsea Fan - Sensible? nah! just doesn't work at all.

More chance that Bale will stay now at least to see how the new manger operates. Allardyce is free <laugh>

Ultimately, if he wants to go, he will. However, he's an honourable bloke and will understand that there couldn't be a worse time for this to happen for Levy and the club. We need a big, successful opening for the new stadium. We've had no time to plan for this and it could be a disaster. His answer that forcing a way out of Spurs would be disrespectful is not something that I'd expect from many people in football.

MP doesn't have an agent to feed,.he'll be relying on friends and family for advice and looking inside himself. I've seen it suggested that this could be his only chance at such a job. I cannot see someone with his talent and self-belief thinking that for a second. You don't get to the top of your profession without having massive self-confidence and he'll believe that Madrid will be back for him some time.

A bit like with Modric or Bale, I can see Daniel Levy getting MP to commit to, at least, one more season and everyone reviewing options from there. I wouldn't be putting my life savings on it right now, though.

i don't think he'll move either as he's said all the right words and he's seemed like quite an honourable chap.

What i will say about the 1 more season with modric and bale is that unlike with players, there is only 1 manager spot so real would have to **** up their appointment and sack the manager. If the manager is successful then Poch will have to wait a few more years than he would have wanted (if he promises to stay 1 more year).
With players you just buy them and fit them in.

He needs to maintain his progression and win something as if he's still maintaining top 4 finishes for another few years (again barring real sacking their manager), then i don't think his stock will be higher than it is right now.

3 CL it in a row doesn’t prove he improved Madrid?

Zidane winning 3 consecutive Champions Leagues should not be flimsily dismissed just because he won it with Real. There have been better managers with better squads who have been incapable of achieving such a feat and it is unlikely to happen again for a very long time. He won them their first league title in 7 years as well and left with a net spend of - €95m. Overall, he won 9 trophies in 2.5 seasons. Madrid's league form last season was poor, but when you're managing so many prima donnas and self-indulgent egotists like Ronaldo, Ramos, Carvajal etc, it is hard to maintain consistency. Hence why so many other top managers have gone to Madrid and struggled to maintain that level of success.

Regardless of whichever way you want to look at it, you cannot fluke 3 consecutive Champions League trophies. And you certainly don't do it by being tactically inept. He's a far better manager than some on here are giving credit for.
