Totally agree with your opening paragraph, totally disagree with the second. The trick is to be invited to join but to very publicly decline the invitation and very publicly give the reasons for declining. From then on, the initiative is ours and we become the defacto guardians of true footballing values (if we aren't that already).

If let's say Chelsea and Arsenal joined a Euro Super League and we didn't, they would become irrelevant to us. Just like Boca Juniors or Fluminese are now. Both big clubs huge on their own continents, but the fact that we literally never ever play them makes them all but irrelevant to Spurs fans. Bump into a gooner in the pub and what'll the banter be?
"Haha you have to play Aston Villa while we get to play Barcelona".
"Yeah, and get thrashed by them and pay hundreds for tickets and further hundreds for flights and hotels just to sit in a near-silent stadium with NFL-style advert breaks and a half-time show surrounded by tourists and corporate get-togethers."

The only reason the EL is currently so ****e is because the teams who are in it are theoretically able to swap the happy meal for a michelin restaurant. The grass is only greener because the twat lives next door and has a see-through fence. But if the twat is by and large out of sight and out of mind, if the michelin place puts a big sign outside saying 'Plastics Only' and meanwhile the Macdonalds next door is full of the type of people you'd happily invite to your stag do, I know which side of the fence I'd rather be on.

To Dare Is To Do. We may have spent a few years in the gutter but I'm still looking at the stars. We give up a place at the top table over my dead body.

The other stuff? That's what West Ham were created for.

Anyone seen one of the generally acknowledged worst films of all time "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (if you haven't please do, it's very entertaining). Anyway, the aliens do this salute to each other which consists of banging the chest followed by a cross between sieg heil and hello. The first part of the salute is clearly a homage to that film. Shame it's not more widely known because if the badge goes ahead the opposition fans can welcome Leeds in the Plan 9 fashion.

I watched Real Madrid go out of their cup comp against lowly opp. Zidane doing a Poch......picking virtually a reserve team and thinking "we can walk it!"

He's in serious trouble. When a manager openly confesses that he can't work out how to improve results, the writing is on the wall. He'll either get the sack after they get their arses handed to them by PSG, or will walk at the end of the season.

Will be interesting to see who they approach to replace him. Doubt it'll be Poch as he has zero major trophies under his belt. Conte?

He seems really pissed off at Chelsea at the minute and there are already rumours about replacements being lined up.
Maybe Ancelotti will return to tide them over, if Zidane does go before the end of the season?

Interesting that Maureen has signed a contract extension at United. Is that because he genuinely likes it there or because he realises he is running out of options where he can operate with an open chequebook?

Will he break his own 3-year hoodoo?

Just a reminder...
7th August 2015: Portuguese Basil Fawlty signs a contract extension with the Chavs
17th December 2015: Guus Hiddink receives another phone call from Roman Abramovich

For context, here's the "reserves" that Los Ladrones started with last night

Kiko Casilla (1 Spain cap, 22 appearances for Los Ladrones)
Achraf Hakimi (6 Morocco caps, 5 appearances for Los Ladrones)
Nacho (14 Spain caps, 97 appearances for Los Ladrones)
Sergio Ramos (149 Spain caps, 378 appearances for Los Ladrones, 1 World Cup, 2 European Championships and a 3x UFC Bantamweight champion)
Theo Hernandez (5 appearances for Los Ladrones)
Mateo Kovacic (38 Croatia caps, 58 appearances for Los Ladrones, and habitually linked with Spurs)
Marcos Llorente (8 appearances for Los Ladrones)
Isco (24 Spain caps, 144 appearances for Los Ladrones, and also habitually linked with Spurs)
Lucas Vazquez (3 Spain caps, 74 appearances for Los Ladrones)
Karim Benzema (81 France caps, 257 appearances for Los Ladrones)
Marco Asensio (8 Spain caps, 39 appearances for Los Ladrones)

Frankly, if you can't win with that lineup, you're doing at least six things wrong.

Looks good,but looks aren't everything.
I felt sorry for Real's "reserves" trying to break down that green defence.Looked like a line of green telephone poles stretching across the edge of the penalty area.
Now where have I seen those tactics before......?

Ramos is wasted there
