He was so, so bad, plodding around doing nothing and miscontrolling every ball played to him, but then he does what he's always done and puts the ball in the net. Absolutely pointless for 99.9% of the game and he does it all the time, but he somehow scores. Looks good on his record but the side's playing with 10 men and getting poor results. He'll get another move in the summer, pick up some more money and flatter to deceive for yet another club.
Won't see much of the ball though, going by that game! Good luck to you on staying up though, Surlyc.
You have to question Fulham's tactics. As soon as the bother to attack they score. United are **** at the back. If Fulham had gone for it they could have scored a bundle.
MOTD presenter Gary Lineker: "Still think Manchester United can win the league... next season's Europa League."
He looks like an out of shape heavy weight boxer nearing the end of his career, scruffy and pointless but still has that ability to pull something out the bag! Always thought he was an awful team player but he's proved himself as a goal scorer and he will say that's his job!
Well, it's only Liverpool next... Thanks though, we're going to need that luck. Our tactics in the first half were pretty much bang on, we had two great chances to United's one. Considering our confidence was so low, I was very impressed. We really need Mitroglou to get fit though, Bent really doesn't do anything for 99% of the game and you need more than tap ins to win at Old Trafford. That said, I'm made up about taking a point. Thank you for Holtby and good luck for the top four!
Agreed - just shows that goalscoring statistics are not the right way to judge - even for 'strikers'. The teams that Bent plays for probably concede a bundle of extra goals that exceed the number he scores because of his poor attitude.
I was right. Fulham barely moved out of their box in the 2nd half until they'd gone behind, primarily because they had no out ball. They started the half in the lead and only got a draw. Poor substitution.
First top half side Fulham have taken points off all season. United are genuinely ****ed now, even with a win at the Emirates. Liverpool admitted the mistake with Hodgson and finished the season well, it's taken them time to rebuild but looks as if they have a team good enough to challenge. Can't see United admitting they've got it wrong and doing the same.
Fergie must still hold some power and he will be saying ' Moyes needs time' . Moyes couldn't ask for someone better to have his back!
Utd's problems were evident before today. The game v Fulham doesn't provide any further ammunition against Moyes. He picked the best team available, they dominated the game (75% possession, 30+ attempts at goal, 80+ crosses (a record)) but they lacked composure in front of goal and made two more defensive lapses at the other end. Those failings are down to the players - I'm sure Moyes knows he needs to to overhaul his defence and find a top class midfielder to play in front of them. He can't be criticised for the result. Chelsea failed to beat West Ham two weeks ago in similar circumstances, but nobody blames Mourinho's tactics, selection or motivational skills. Moyes inherited a team which needs rebuilding - he should be judged when he's rebuilt it, assumimg he's given funds. It's the Glazers who are really on trial- will they stump up the £100M needed to buy the quality players who could fix Utd's problems? Utd have the cash so will it be spent?
He can probably be criticised for buying Mata and having no idea where to play him. Moved around all over the place today, as Moyes didn't know what to do with him.
That was probably a case of Moyes having the chance (and taking it) to sign a top class player who every Utd fan wanted, even if he had no clue where he fits in! It's the sort of signing I would expect from Kevin Keegan!
