i thought they had £70m to spend? Could they not afford a pair of shorts for poor old Poldolski (?) with 2 legs?

Sunderland have signed another player, a 19-year-old Greek winger called Charis Mavrias and Norwich have brought in ex-Bolton striker Johan Elmander from Galatasaray.
Lots of signings for both sides, so I guess there'll be some pressure on their managers to get results.

Does that mean that they are about to hit the buffers or have they already done so?

Thanks for the translation. <cheers> Google clearly needs to add Scouse and Manc translators. A little conversation I once had.

Scouse girl: "Ey ya saxy bahstahd! Gi us a nosh!

Ya think he knows English? Ya think he undah STANDS meh.

Me: "I know English, and I didn't understand you."

"Celtic hopes dented by Shakhter" is the headline on the bbc.
"Jeez, tough draw for a prelim round" I think before I read down:

Celtic's hopes of Champions League progress are dented as Shakhter Karagandy take a two-goal lead in the play-off first leg.

    Who???

You know? From the Kazakh league? Sure, its only a matter of time before that league is pushing on the Big 5's dominance in Europe.
In fairness to Celtic, its some haul to go out to Kazakhstan for a football match, but at the same time, they should be winning these matches with their eyes closed.

I watched the game, Celtic showed very little ambition and really should have done a lot better. They have sold their best two players and replaced no one. I understand the thinking is they didn't need to buy yet to get through this tie and once qualified they could spend more. Could be a major cock up for them.

103-275: Missing out on everyone else :emoticon-0120-doh:<wah>

Clearly the Khazakstani sacrifice of a sheep before the match worked a treat. Wonder what the Glasgow equivalent will be for the return leg?

    Indeed. It's melt-down over there!

Just as I predicted it would be.

This is going to be a fantastically amusing season for us Spurs fans.
