What you're getting at is less games, like I say, with the crap injury prone squad they've got I really don't think it would matter.
If Fenerbahce are banned (v likely) wont they just go through anyway? The draw is the day after the decision, so no time to play another game. I've heard it would go to a Turkish club, but surely half of them are already tainted.

Whinger, having won absolutely nothing for almost a decade, has been living off the fact that he has, in that time, never failed to get AFC at least 4th and into the CL.

More importantly, he won't get his hefty bonus for a fourth-placed finish.
I think this may be part of the problem - if he only got the bonus for automatic CL qualification (i.e. third or higher) he'd be less inclined to sit on his laurels rather than wait for us to find a new way to bugger it up (i.e. food poisoning, injuries, manager tapping himself up for the England job)
2011-12 is the season where Wenger should've been kicked up the backside. He clearly was early in the season after one point from the first three games (including an 8-2 mauling at Old Trafford) but at the end of the day it was Harry taking his foot off the pedal, parking, and getting out of the car to do some shopping that handed them third place and allowed Wenger to rest on his laurels. If that didn't happen, and we held on to third, it would have been Arsenal punished by UEFA's double standards where it comes to meritocracy and you can guarantee that last season Wenger would have been motivated to correct that. Instead he didn't have that extra motivation and was back to doing the bare minimum.
That's it DL you have just found it. Spurs come fourth but Englands rating drops because of Arsenal and only 3 teams go in.

Michel Platini, the Uefa president, may change the format beyond the 2015-16 campaign but presently the top three nations in Uefa's coefficient ranking are given four places in the tournament for the season after next, meaning this year's (2012/13) results will only come into effect during 2014-15.
Italy in fourth are some way behind the top three with 63.147 points and any threat from Serie A is unlikely.

I think an asset has value even if it is not in the process of being liquidated. For example, having a player under contract may increase a club's value, or for that matter decrease it. This, in turn, may affect other transactions.

Transfer bids aren't made on the basis of objectivity, but subjectively at a figure it is thought the selling club might consider entering into negotiations at. If Fellaini and/or Baines are to be sold, Everton will demand and Utd will pay more as we all know. But neither player is young, neither will command much of fee in 18-24 months time, so Everton will have to compromise if they want to cash in on them - and given their financial circumstances, they probably will, especially if the players show any inclination to leave.

What was our initial bid for Soldado and did we make it public and leave it til late in the window?
Spurs make sensible bids for players but we don't leak it to the press and wait until clauses have expired, then make ludicrous lowball bids with obvious intentions of unsettling people.
Downing sold for £5M, Huddlestone £5M, Dempsey £6M, Gervinho £8M in this window. All players of advancing age, experienced in PL and internationally, all still subject to contracts when sold. Is Utd's offer so desirory?
Yes. All of those players were non-first XI at their respective clubs, who all wanted to get rid of them.
Baines and Fellaini are the star players at Everton, who want to hold onto them at all costs.

And Utd haven't offered those sums; Everton have been offered 4 or 5 times the amount- which reflects the status of the players.
£28m for the pair is not 4 or 5 times the amount. It's literally double the price of Dempsey and Gervinho.
It doesn't reflect the status of the players, one of which has a release clause of £23.5m and who actually cost more than half of the overall offer you've made.

Yes, I can't disagree with much of your argument, an asset has a certain value. However, in transfers, we are talking about a purely bilateral transaction; in which cases only the established "value" between the buyer and seller, are relevant. This may not be the value perceived elsewhere, but that does not matter, if both buyer & seller are happy, then that is the value to them.
