That fall of Sagna's is terrible. First time I've seen it. Rivalries aside, I hope that's not too serious. It looked bloody painful.
Yeah horrible to watch. He managed to walk off which is a good sign I suppose, bit of a miracle really, that's the sort of fall that can leave you paralysed.
Tell me about it! One game in and the infighting is something I've never seen the likes of over here. Those gooners are taking chunks out of each other over one defeat!
Just seen the sagna thing, Jesus. He's a bloody lucky boy. Sod the rivalry, that was nasty, he'll be bloody sore in the morn
The crazy thing for the goons is they have a manager that knows a great player when he sees one, is capable of producing exciting creative football, believes in giving talented young players a chance AND has a fortune to spend, thats why they are at breaking point as wenger appears very stubborn and just won't take the risks needed. I just hope this is the year when it all falls apart, but there is still time left for them to make a big money signing. All it takes is one great signing and things change so I've learnt from the past not to write them off as the bastards always prove you wrong.
Surprised they didn't offer that Van Persie fellow a new contract. He looks promising. On the other hand, he does vindicate Wenger by proving there are still great deals to be made for strikers if you know where to shop.
The last nearly 20years should have taught us this. 10pts and 2-0 up should have taught us this. Til the equivalent of st totteringhams day I'm not writing them off
An Arsenal fan goes into a travel agents and says, "I need a holiday, but I don't know where to go." The agent says, "You can't beat a good villa this time of year."
Turns out the 2nd penalty was a correct decision, as Koscielny made contact with Agbonlahor's trailing leg before taking the ball. I missed that and I'd be surprised if the ref saw it, but the right choice was made, even if it wasn't necessarily for the right reasons. Vlaar was lucky to stay on the pitch, though.
Yeah I didn't like the way Shearer called it a "very, very good decision by the ref". For starters, as you say, the ref had no way of seeing the contact but from his angle it didn't look like Koscielny got the ball which is what should've been emphasised. Saying that his knee touched Agbonlahor before he'd got to the ball means it is a pen is pedantry to me. As far as I'm concerned it shouldn't have been a penalty with all the replays in the World as Koscielny got the ball and his knee touching Agbonlahor didn't affect his abillity to take it past Koscielny(which he couldn't do because of a very good tackle).
But it's still a foul, YV. Koscielny made significant contact with the player before he got the ball. Why wouldn't that be a foul?
yet the stats on MOTD shows that over 70% of people disagreed with it being a pen. That must have been Arsenal fans, as it was definitely a pen. - Not as clear cut as the first, but a pen all the same.
I think that they did that poll before the replays were shown, to be fair. Most neutrals wouldn't have voted anyway, I'd have thought. Villa fans would be too busy celebrating!
to be honest the goons were happy enough with the awful refereeing in the Norwich match at the back end of last season when they were given a penalty for no reason when they were losing 1 nil with 5 mins left... then they claimed that they deserved their luck but now they claim that they were robbed... go figure
Both pens IMO, the other contentious one (during the game) was whether Chesney should have gone, having seen it I think the ref was right. Seemed a good game by the ref tbh, on the biggest decisions anyway
