He shifted the ball to go outside on his right and cut back inside as Cahill started to shift his weight. It looks simple but you can understand why Cahill bought it, it would've been the priority not to let him have a shot on his best foot. Now why am I defending Cahill?
Not as easy as Chelsea thought eh? If Villa score again then I don't think Chelsea will come back. Chelsea won by an own goal against a weak Utd in the 87th minute, the way Villa are playing it's a different ball game.
You could see that coming. Ramires was getting frustrated, picked up a silly booking and then made a few other poor decisions afterwards. With the ref calling a number of big decisions in Chelsea's favour, despite getting most of them right, you could feel him giving one the other way. Probably just about deserved, too.
What did you all think of the John terry slide? Was a yellow fair? Alan smith said he didn't deny a goal scoring opportunity, but I beg to differ. Just because he was quite a way out, he was still through on goal.
Either way, he is on a yellow and likely that AV's speedsters will continue to torment him in the 2nd half. Maybe just a matter of time.....
Cole was covering, just about. The ball was heading in his direction, so it's hard to call it a clear goalscoring opportunity, though it would've been a good chance for him to run through. Hard to call fault with a yellow, for me. Terry's got to be walking a bit of a tightrope for the second half now, all things considered. Interesting half-time talks for both managers.
I'd agree with you on that although in this particular case I think Cole's positioning offers enough doubt for it not to be a red card. The last man rule only failed because refs started bottling it and not giving fouls because they didn't want to send the likes of Rio off for clumsy challenges. Under the new rules Cahill got his red card rescinded when he fouled Lennon about 5 yards into his own half but there was no way anyone could have caught him or prevented him getting to the area and having a 1 on 1 with the 'keeper so I don't see how it's not a "goalscoring opportunity" but then again that's just a stupid phrase to allow the refs to make it up as they go along.
Some ridiculous crap in the media suggesting that Benteke should've been sent off. If that was a red, then David Luiz would last about 5 minutes in every game. Ludicrous.
Exactly, there seems to be some concensus that if you hit them in the face it's a red and in the body it's good "strength" but really the only difference is in the height of the players involved.
I don't think he's available and I don't think he's particularly interested in leaving either, like Bale. I could definitely see Jose going for him with Chelsea though.
All joking aside, I reckon we should be grateful for playing Villa when we did..... Totally different opposition these days.
