Well said. The subject of my rant was that it drives me insane how good Arsenal is at working every angle to get the refs to give them calls. While that's true, they've also done what Spurs have failed to do, which is to buckle down and play well under pressure.
Hang on a minute... Arsenal have got a lot of help from refs (agreed) plus they've played well under pressure when we haven't... and yet if we win our game in hand we're above them. How does that work then? IMHO they've had *a lot* of help from refs, so QED they can't have been playing that well without it surely?
It seems that reports in Spain are saying that Mourinho is leaving this summer & that Ancelotti has agreed to take over.
We've conceded 9 points to them in 6 games. I don't think it's necessarily that we haven't played particularly well under pressure, we weren't under pressure against Liverpool or Fulham but we simply haven't played well lately and Arsenal have played well but even when they haven't they've been very determined and with a bit of luck along the way have seen them pick up an impressive 17 out of 21 points in their games since the NLD.
I think luck works different ways.A ref may give you a penalty or a wrong decision that helps you win a game. However if you sit back and watch, you ain't getting anything.Remember how Bale chased for a crumb against Wigan ( and really it was a lost cause) and the goalie presented him with a goal!He wouldn't have scored if he hadn't chased!!!!!
Sign that young Lowton chap now. He's looked better every time I've seen him play this season. He can pass, cross, read the game and has decent close ball control. Big future.
Yeah, he looks a good player, another promising fullback that Sheffield United have turned out. I can't see him becoming a better player than Walker will be though, he might be having a bad season but he's got huge potential. Good goal for Rose tonight, hope Villa win though I quite like them now Holte isn't around all the time.
This is what I expected Villa to be like all season to be honest. I predicted at the start of the season they'd be a good midtable side but apart from Benteke they've got too many players that have struggled to make an impact with any kind of regularity.
Villa have looked superb tonight and to think the Chavs think they can walk that game.... Benteke has looked sharp, good positioning and finishing, worth a punt?
Benteke will cost a lot of money, Villa's valuation has just had a couple of mill added!...we still have to to see if this is another one season wonder first imo.
It'll be interesting to see what Lerner does now. He lost a lot of money paying the likes of Young and Downing big wages to keep them at the club which they needed CL football to fund, I think he'll still pay to keep his best players but keep a wage cap so there's a certain level of wage demand that he won't meet and will sell the player, afterall that's what ended up happening with the likes of Barry, Milner, Young and Downing in the end anyway.
A lot depends on Benteke's own ambition, does he fancy himself in Europe?, he's bound to and he must know it'll be a long time before Villa see it next. His agent will no doubt see an earner here and will be in his lughole in the summer. I'll be surprised if he turns out for Villa in August.
