Luiz shouldn't have been on the pitch to score their opener in the last game, as he elbowed Connor Wickham in the face against Sunderland.
Didn't seem to bother them then.

I'd be more pissed off about the Carragher foul, if I were them. It's easy to see why the Suarez bite was missed.

  4. I hope that Villa manage to get at least a draw against United, tomorrow, so that Fergie has to make sure of a win in their game against Arsenal. It would be great to go ahead of them with the cushion of a game in hand.

    Default position: blame the ref.

Chelsea didn't win because they didn't defend well enough. There were thousands of decisions made in the game by players, managers and officials which ultimately had a bearing on the result. Chelsea didn't do enough to win; if you concede two goals in a game, you often don't.

Liverpool fan on 606 claiming that it might have been a 'simulated bite' and that Suarez is being persecuted! <laugh>
Not sure it wasn't an Evertonian taking the piss, to be honest.

    Haha, jokes.

The crazy thing as well was that the goal came at nearly 90+7 minutes when the ref only added on 6.

Rafa made a late substitution though, so that probably added on the extra time, plus there may have been some timewasting in injury time.

Was there this much uproar when Balotelli stamped on Parker but was on the pitch to score the winner? If the FA take retrospective action (which will be interesting) it will also be interesting to see if the ban is similar to Balotelli's or more. If more you have to ask if the ban is based on the clubs involved rather than what was done. If anything I'd argue Balotelli's was worse.

The thing with Balotelli was whether or not he meant it - I remember that MOTD where they spent about 5 minutes talking about the angle of his leg and momentum etc. Now don't get me wrong, I thought he meant it but some didn't.

This bite is clearly intentional - plus football is played with the feet so perhaps a stamp isn't the craziest thing in the world (despite the fact it's still disgraceful). A bite is more shocking I think.

  14. You can argue it Vim, but I don't think you will get much support. Balotelli's stamp on Parker was bad and the repercussions of him not being sent off were significant, but biting is one of the last great taboo's. Think it probably has more to do with the inherent risk of infection etc, but the action itself is one of such animalistic intent that it will always be regarded as reprehensible and a bridge too far.

I don't think the FA will have any option but to impose a season ending ban - and I fully expect that Mr Suarez will be moving on in the summer.

They might do it on perception though Vim - last week when millwall kicked off at wembley they kept banging on about how it was being beamed around thew orld and would reflect badly on our game. Balotelli's was bad but if you asked people (without showing specific incidents) whether biting was worse than stamping most respondents would probably say yes. That's not necessarily fair of course but I suspect that's the terms in which the FA will look at it.

Anyway, back to actual football itself - fantastic result for you boys today!

Point taken guys. I agree it's about perception (of course I'd argue it shouldn't be). A stamp on someone's head is simply worse than biting someone's arm!

But no doubt we'll prove this is true over the week, because this bite will be all over the media and a lengthy ban may result, and yet nobody will be talking about Nasri's potentially leg breaking assault on Walker which apparently went unseen and could potentially also be the subject of retrospective punishment. Except it won't.

Agreed, I think Mr Suarez just played his last game for the mousers and won himself an early summer holiday.

Ajax banned him for two games and slapped him with a fine whilst the Dutch FA banned him for seven games the last time he felt peckish

Away from Suarez, what I'm seeing on the Arsenal and Chelsea boards is a general sense of negativity towards their own chances of top 4 but at the same time positively commenting on each other's chances (Arsenal fans saying that Chelsea will probably get top 4 and vice versa).

    Bizarre.
