    Apparently Dragusin has been compared to Van Dijk style wise.

    After seeing the first half of this game against Fulham, I hope that’s not true <laugh>

    I think we're right to complain about the Friday FA Cup games, but there's worse.
    Fulham v the Saudis is a 7pm kick-off on Saturday, which is ridiculous. Still not the worst, though.
    West Brom v Brentford or Wolves is 11.45am on Sunday. WTF is that?!
    https://www.thefa.com/news/2024/jan...th-round-proper-broadcast-selections-20241101

    I can't remember us having an AM kick-off in a competitive game, especially one in England.
    I assume the police have asked for it to be early in case it's a derby, but that's too much.

    <FA>
    Each of these clubs will receive a live broadcast fee of £110,000 in addition to any payments from the competition’s prize fund.
    </FA>

    And how much nett in addition will the FA be losing/receiving
    from global broadcast revenue rights than if all the ties
    were being played on a righteous 3PM saturday KO ??

    If they want to eff around for corporate greed, then lose
    some of the lucre to the inconvenienced clubs.

    Newcastle have announced a £150M loss
    It looks like Al Abid, Painters & Decorators of Gateshead are going to have to increase their sponsorship. It’s now £10M per game for a pitch side advertising board. Domestic and commercial, no job too big or small.

    Why would we complain about getting 40 hours more rest than our next PL opponents? It's the best we could hope for.

    Why? Evening kick offs work much better for me in terms of travelling.

    The interval between successive games (in isolation or cumulatively)
    is relevant when it comes to fatigue injuries. Crowing about
    one pair when the pair(s) before may have been worse for you than
    for the opponent shows weak analysis.

    I don't think you are right. Our average interval between games is fixed by the number of fixtures and the length of the season*. There is also a minimum interval of three days. So the only thing that matters is whether there is an advantage over the opponent in particular matches. The opponent in the Friday match will have played on a fixed day in the previous week. If it was the same day as us then neither has an advantage. If it was earlier or later then the advantage is close to the same whether we play on Friday or Saturday or Sunday. But Brentford, if they get through, have to play Sunday and Wednesday. That is much worse than Friday and Wednesday. What happens in the rest of the season doesn't affect the advantage in this match at all.
    * Clearly playing on Friday in the first weekend of the season makes the average interval bigger than 18 other clubs so must be a mild advantage in itself but it also guarantees that you have an advantage in at least an extra day's rest over the next opponent.

    Do a thought experiment....if all our matches were on Friday and everyone else played on Saturday, we would always have 7 days rest between fixtures and our opponents would always have only 6 before playing us. The fact that they get 7 days rest after playing us is a disadvantage to their next opponents, not to us.

    It will not bother a lot of City fans from Manchester but I heard the last train out of Euston is 22.03 ,current state of transport and the totting up of wasted time ,Var ect , no chance of making it back to catch the train the rest will make it back the suburbs no sweat

    I don't think you've ever been able to get back to Manchester from London after a midweek match but that's not a good reason for Spurs fans being against Friday matches.

    My objection is the way TV dictates match days and times with no consideration for the fans
