The relegation battle looking the most competitive for years no one has been cut adrift and just 6 pts separate 20th from 12th, and at the moment it seems impossible to call, but if I was a Palace fan I would very worried as in these sort of seasons there always seems to be club drawn into the fight who seemed well clear watching Forest today I would worry about them too.
West Ham, Everton and Leicester going down would be wonderful.
Luckily, we've somehow already surpassed the 36 points to guarantee safety...
I personally think the govt's position on migrants in general is abhorrent, but at the same time I totally agree with the BBC's decision on this as it is the correct one. Lineker only has the significant (read: £1.35m) platform from which his voice carries far and wide thanks to the taxpayer. He should not be allowed to use that platform to spread his own political opinion, no matter how correct or virtuous that opinion is.

It's an impossibly fine line that and you're right - social media makes it even more complicated.
But ultimately I think the point still stands: His personal twitter account only has the reach it does thanks to the taxpayer.
The real solution might be to simply defund the entire BBC and cut it adrift from the public purse, something I think should have happened ages ago albeit not for this specific reason.

Would be an interesting experiment for him
to end the MOTD gig but continue his Twattery
(and then see what the dissenting numbers are
for him to get the boot from his remaining gigs
in comparison to the current totals) .
He akready has the wealth to easily participate
(and all in the "name of science" too) .
Honestly anyone who is fine with paying tax to listen to the likes of Alan Shearer and Danny Murphy needs their head checked.

The BBC selected Lineker for the role and groomed him to perform it because he was a very well known footballer with a record of being honest and decent as a human being, for example, he was never booked throughout his football career.
So let's get it clear, it is the BBC who exploited Lineker's popularity in the first place. He went from being very stilted to a polished performer in front of the camera ensuring the popularity of the BBC MOTD. You can't employ such talent and then try to stifle them. It's Lineker's popularity not the BBC's. That's why they have to pay him loads of money.
And that's without going into to all the right wing public comments made by people like Andrew Neil that the BBC defend from criticism. Tax payers money? Bollocks, they are licence payers for a start perhaps the BBC should be funded through taxes but it is not at the moment so the tax payer has nothing to do with it.
Just to illustrate the licence situation, in Scotland 13% of households do NOT buy a tv licence. That's largely because the Scottish referendum opened peoples eyes to the establishment (right wing) bias of the BBC. England 7%, Wales 6% and Northern Ireland 10%.
