It was humiliating, but it is only 3 points lost. And hopefully Real Betis and Southampton will suffer this week as a consequence, although the way the team lost their composure in the last half hour is worrying.
Fwiw I think Utd will bounce back and end the season strongly. I just mean it will be spoke about for a long time and remembered (from a Utd perspective) for all the wrong reasons
I largely agree, though I have no idea why it actually happened. Could be just one of those weird games, given that Liverpool scored with virtually every shot. The reaction next time they go a couple of goals behind will tell, I think. Ten Hag will have questions about the mentality of some, if not all, of his players.
Liverpool fans (and fans of a few other teams too) will be dining out on it for a while, no doubt. And it will give Liverpool a boost for a while in their bid for 4th place. We’ll see if it acts as a wake up call for Utd. The team might move on quicker than the fans. It was hard to watch - the perfect storm of Liverpool playing far better than they have done all season and Utd falling apart spectacularly when put under pressure for 45 minutes.
Good question. If you've been watching us over recent weeks we just don't have the depth to compete on multiple fronts. Past few weeks has been a mix of knockout cup games with make or break league games. And every time Ten Hag has tried to rotate he's ended up bringing on our game-changers to salvage a win. Amongst all that, certain players like Fernandes have played every game. The attitude and capitulation was unacceptable and inexcusable yesterday, but just watching some of our players at the end of the West Ham FA Cup game, and the Barca game they looked visibly shattered by the end, and I said on our board days before I was concerned for the Livpl game and never bought into the narrative we were the stronger side going into it. I'm less worried about the loss and still more concerned about the fatigue and injuries because the games continue to come and as I said, we'll still be relying on the same players to get us through.
I didn't see it, but it was mentioned on the BBC earlier by Chris Sutton that Fernandes pushed one of the assistants. Is this true? Not that it could be much worse (and some ManU fans might actually prefer him not being available next game), but I have no idea what 'pushed' actually means. Could be the one that goes unpunished to the one that gets retrospective three match ban. Opinion?
Kicks out at AA and then push-slaps the 3rd official in the back. You could say it was 'minor', but really not sure what they were thinking in letting this slide, as it risks the escalation of violence against officials.
I know I have a general downer on ManU not getting enough cards, but this didn't look very major to me, so I can see why they didn't act at the time, nor look at it afterward. However, as you point out, considering that the issue of treatment of officials at lower levels is (allegedly) of concern at the moment, it seems unwise to let it go.
Two dubious decisions i quick succession gift Chelsea the lead. Handball was harsh and encroachment just a joke.
Handball was a joke but encroaching is bloody stupid by the defenders imho. It always gets given now cos of VAR
