I feel like kicking the ref’s guide dog, but I can’t abide cruelty to animals
I don't blame the ref. It did hit his arm. Shouldn't have stopped that early, though.
It's the VAR official, Massimiliano Irrati. Sounds familiar. Should never have agreed with it.

I've just looked him up and he was on VAR when we knocked City out of the CL! <laugh>
I take it all back! What a top bloke!

Man Utd behind to an incorrectly given penalty at Old Trafford.
Now they know what it's like.
Why do you think it was incorrect? The current law doesn't mention deflections off other parts of the body. All that matters is whether the arm is in an unnatural position.

Part of IFAB Law 12:
Except for the above offences, it is not an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm:
  • directly from the player’s own head or body (including the foot)
Was brought in a couple of years ago. That's why our pen v West Ham was chalked off.

That bit is not in the current Law 12 though.

The commentator on BT for Man Utd fails to see a Sociedad player losing his boot, somehow.
Stepped on by a defender and missed by everyone.

Game over. Man Utd lose to a **** decision, while the Spam are rescued by one.

It seems to be in the 20-21 edition but not after that.

Even the words you quote say 'except for the above offences' which means they don't apply to arms being in an unnatural position.

And what do you the the "natural position" of his arms should be when jumping forward to block the ball with his legs?

Maybe both hands on his head or both arms tucked firmly behind his back and **** the landing <doh>

Go on, tell us what the natural position would be for his arms <laugh>

No idea and it may have been the wrong decision. I was just pointing out that the fact the ball hit his legs is irrelevant.

Yep, so his body is twisting and he is putting his arms out ready for the landing.

Where would your arms have "naturally" been at that point?

A quick diagram would help :emoticon-0100-smile
