Dybala close to Roma for €6m a season (roughly €115k a week).
Something tells me there might be an issue with him you know. It was reported at the start of the window that he’d be looking for around double that as reports said he wanted around €250k a week, Inter apparently offered him a deal that was “only” about €30k short of that and he turned it down. Then journos said that Paratici rejected him, Utd supposedly rejected him and I think there were one or two other clubs that said no too. €250k a week for a free transfer of Dybala’s quality doesn’t seem that extortionate, especially to Prem clubs and big sides across Europe, so it feels like there must another reason why so many have said no to him and why he’s taking practically half of what he was asking for now with Roma.

I mean Paratici was trying to offload him when they were both at Juve so the links to us once Fabio arrived didn’t make the most sense.
I think the feeling with Dybala is that he’s clearly a wonderfully gifted player who is technically on par with the best in the game. But he doesn’t always have the impact in the matches a player of his quality should. He’s also developed - somewhat unfairly - a reputation as being injury prone. I think he’s the kind of player who needs to play a free role drifting into central spaces off the right and where other players will help do some of the dog work for him, and therefore needs a system built around him. Firstly this is increasingly rare in the modern game and secondly his output doesn’t always justify this. At least that’s what some Italian journos have said over the years.
In other words I’m not surprised he’s struggled a bit to find a home, especially given his wage demands. He’s the kind of player I’d always like to watch, because he’s capable of the extraordinary, but I’m not sure I’d like us to sign him and build a team around him, if that makes sense.
I think Dybala's best position may be an issue and it may explain Roma's other forward link.

More of an out-and-out striker who would work well with the Argentinian, I think.
That double signing would give them a lot of forward options.

Evening my song stealing friends. Heading up for our opening day game in a couple of weeks and hoping for some pub/driving tips.
My preference for London games is normally to only drive to outskirts and use public transport for the remainder (eg South Croydon for Palace and Richmond for Chelsea/Fulham/Brentford).
Looking at map I'm thinking maybe Cockfosters or Enfield? Is this right and is there lots of parking nearby? I don't mind a 30/40 minute trek from ground to car/station if neccesary and would prefer that if it means getting away quicker.
Advice on pubs would be appreciated too as came via Seven sisters last time and don't know area north of ground at all. Presumably I won't get into the Bricklayers on a matchday? Shame if so as that's a cracking boozer.

I'm not sure about transport, but you might want to look into the overground station.
White Hart Lane railway station is right across the road from the stadium.
It'll be shut for a bit after the game though, as will the next nearest, IIRC.
The nearest underground is either Tottenham Hale or Seven Sisters.
I prefer the former and it's about a 15-20 minute walk.
I think the local away pubs have all shut down, unfortunately.
Haringey Irish Centre was killed by covid, for a start.
You might be better off in the ground. Probably about the same prices.

I know a lot of people go to Liverpool Street on public transport, then to Spurs nearer kick-off.
M25 to junction 25 A10 Enfield turn off go to Theobalds Grove station , car park right next to the station 15 mins to White Hart Lane direct

Theobalds Grove has a car park next to the station and it takes 11 minutes from there to WHL on the train.
As for drinks though you're better off drinking in the ground, **** all for away fans in close proximity. There's a pub next to Theobalds though called the Wheatsheaf, albeit it's pretty **** and overpriced, pool table's often occupied by locals too.
