Looks like they’re gonna replace him with Xavi, gotta sort his exit from Al-Sadd first. Be interesting to see how that goes, he’s one of their most revered legends but he’ll be entering a **** show (by their standards anyway) that I’m not quite sure how he can turn around without significant finances… which they currently don’t have.
He'll be given plenty of leeway until the summer and their financial issues virtually disappear then. They've still got a decent squad, so I expect them to push up the table a bit and get into the Europa, at least. They're currently in 9th. They've played a game more than us and have the same number of points. Awful.
Decent by a normal club's standards but it's gotta be the worst Barca team in 20+ years. I'd say man for man quality wise they can't be much better than us... I mean that's damning.
They've got a lot of very good youngsters though, apparently. Not sure that's exactly what you need in their position, though. Koeman's just a **** manager. Nonsense appointment because he played for them at one point. How he's fallen upward from Southampton to Everton to the Netherlands to Barca is beyond me. It was clear to everyone that it was a poor choice before they even made it. The finances isn't on him, of course. That's another **** up altogether.
So they're going to get him fit in time to bugger off to the African Nations with Cameroon? Fair enough.
Fantastic finish by Origi, but it's interesting that the commentator is strangely silent about the officials. Clear double-handed save on the line before they took the lead and the opener was offside. Pretty standard though, I guess.
We were linked with Jonathan David before he joined Lille. Had a slow start, but he's firing on all cylinders this season. Not sure why everyone's so surprised at a Pochettino side turning up late a lot, though. We had lots of memorable games when that happened. Beating Swansea 3-1 after being 1-0 down with a minute left springs to mind. I'm sure there were a bunch of late winners from Eriksen, too.
Jonathan David follows us on Instagram Have we worked out a way to put subliminal messages in training videos yet?
The Times report that, come the 2023-4 season, the Premier League will introduce a new VAR system which automates offside calls Because as anyone who has a Youtube channel will tell you, the best thing about having fully-automated systems with no human oversight whatsoever is how they never make any errors whatsoever... Also, anyone know where the VAR Watch thread went? I couldn't find it
