Did you know? I became a member of the Charles Buchan Boys Club in 1954 and was expected "to play the game as it is meant to be played and support your team in bad times as well as good and not be boastful in success ...and be cheerful in defeat!" Did you know? My school use to give out letters of "Certificate of Character" to help you find a job ( at 15). I was a quiet lad of "modest disposition, played regularly for the school first team and always played a hard game". (Why did I suddenly think of Vinny Jones?) Did you know my second job in 1966 was going to pay me 7s.8d. per hour for a 40 hour week. Would you say times have changed? (Items my mum had put away and have just surfaced. I'd forgotten about them!?)
We got points but played pretty poorly. L Everton...woeful throughout W Southampton...awful 1st half good 2nd D Newcastle...good 1st half poor 2nd half W United.. very good throughout D West Ham...v good 1st half shocking 2nd W Burnley...awful throughout W Brighton... good in parts poor in parts W WBA...turgid W City ... very good throughout D Chelsea...meh throughout W Arsenal...v good 1st poor 2nd D Palace...decent 1st half terrible 2nd L Liverpool...decent throughout L Leicester...bloody awful D Wolves...Great 1st 5 mins terrible last 85 28 points in 15 games Less than 2 points per game until January not more. There were a lot of worries on the match day threads at the time so this ain't hindsight. We have done nothing to address this other than to have sacked JM 68 days ago. The idea that Grealish wouldn't have got on the pitch simply shows what a clown JM was. I ain't Grealishs biggest fan but tbh he would be better than Lo Celso and or Ndombele
In terms of the ubermensch, the obvious question is what use Grealish would be when we were willingly surrendering midfield for 45-60 minutes per game from December onwards Oh, I have a suggestion for this...
So I think you're saying, apart from the fact that I got the year wrong, didn't read your post properly and clearly did not follow the discussion properly my contribution was valid
Has a single pundit said that Jack Grealish needs to move to The Sheikh Mansour Team if he wants to win trophies yet?
If you heard TalkShite recently it's more like is there a pundit that hasn't said that. No, what they think would be a good think is for that team to continue to stockpile players, he doesn't get to play all the time (cos they have 'rotation' you know), and he gets to fulfill 'ambition' (which apparently these days means doing something where it's hard to fail, instead of achieving something where it's difficult to achieve, like staying at your parent club). And yes Citeh are stockpiling, because apparently it's ok to have twice the number of players they need (rotation and depth etc, which is something that most other teams aren't allowed for normal economic reasons). And if this means that a talent like Foden takes a couple of extra years to get into the first team, and then not play all the time (when he would be first choice in many teams long ago), it's down to 'brilliant' development by Fraudiola rather than wasting that talent. And if a player is bought (for ££££££) when the previous ££££ player isn't quite as good as Fraudiola wants, then he's cleverly 'identified a weakness' and rectified it, instead of being limited to what he has already got to work with, like normal managers do. But don't try and point this out, because it will be considered sour grapes.
Especially because of this... If you're going to threaten somebody's family, you go to the right address
Because he’s coming from Villa who have been nowhere recently but fighting relegation. We have been on a different stratosphere, we have been trying for trophies but failing miserably, nothing like Villa. That’s why our players get that different pressure and rightly so because we are different levels to Villa. That’s why our best player wants to leave because he wants to move onto the next logical stage of his career, something we can’t provide him. Grealish hasnt even played one CL game in his life let alone sniff a trophy.
Technically what you said is that a club at a certain level should never aspire to win anything and know their place, and their players should do likewise Somebody should have probably told Ashley Young, Gareth Barry and James Milner about that...
When someone resorts to ‘Technically’ it’s usually a last ditch attempt at proving their weak point you can’t kid a kidder mait
When somebody says "technically" it also implies that somebody's counterargument was weak, for example when saying all players at Spurs should be demanding to leave if they want to win trophies but saying Southampton players should sit down and shut up because they can't expect to win trophies (except the ones that get picked off in great numbers by Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal, yet somehow we're the team Southampton fans accuse of breaking up their squad...)
Their club being taken over by American owners who are willing to turn the club into a pillar of the ESL just as long as they personally get themselves some nice, fat rewards for doing so Somebody should probably tell them...
Pretty sure it's not Liverpool fans, Smithy. Benitez called Everton a small club while managing their rivals, so Evertonians don't like him much.
