The guy straight away holds his hands up in a passive gesture soon as he's confronted by the keeper and the ref gives him a yellow.

Im genuinely baffled

It's been like that for years ... players showboating is considered unsporting... utter bollocks imho.

Ref was a ****ing moron ... should have book the opposition players for acting like spoilt twats

There is a point where it causes a genuine risk of safety - namely to the player taking the piss

Case in point, a few years ago a similar thing happened in Brazil where the keeper misjudged the flight of the ball and left a striker with all the time in the world to score, so he jogged towards goal and scored a backheel right in front of the opposition supporters. As a result, he was soon substituted - not for being unsporting, but so he could be given strict instructions to get the hell out of the stadium and into the cab waiting outside before anyone got hold of him

100% agree with that.

I wonder if just like with how bad VAR has been this season, (for all teams at some point) if those decisions are given with a stadium full of fans.

Hopefully we'll find out soon.

Shakhtar Donetsk beat Real Madrid home and away, yet they went out because they had no players against A German Team.
COVID suspensions meant that they lost to Monchengladbach 10-0 on aggregate and go out on head-to-head results.
Very unfortunate.

What're the odds that UEFA would have allowed that to happen if the roles were reversed?

Their goalie was wasting time in the last few minutes against Inter last night. They would have gone through if they had scored....but they didnt want to risk losing the Europa place?
