Our players can't even win penalties when they're playing for someone else! <laugh>

DL, never lets the facts get in the way of having a dig.

    With thanks to THFC6061 again

CHELSEA have had the most penalties. In the last four seasons, they've had the most twice and second most once.

Pointless stat, you'd have to look into each pen and decide whether it should have been given.

All the penalties we've had this season and last have been pretty much undisputed. You only need to look at the Chelsea v United games last season whereby 3 incorrect penalty calls were awarded in Uniited's favour as well as a blatant dive by Welbeck v Wigan to come to your own conclusion.

The likes of Hazard, Bale and Suarez haven't been able to buy a penalty this season yet Welbeck and Young seemingly get them with ease.

Matt Le Tissier made a good point re: the disallowed Saints goal yesterday. There was definitely a touch, maybe a push, but if it had been the other way, i.e. had the defender 'touched or pushed' an attacker, would it have been given as a penalty? I think that the answer is no, and would be no 100 times out of a 100 in a similar situation, so on the basis of fairness, the Saints goal should have stood.

By the way, Webb is the worst ref, by miles. He is consistently bad. Twattenberg and Pratkinson and Dowd are bad, but inconsistently bad. They have an occasional good game/half/5 minutes.

If you are right and Webb is rated as our 'best' ref what does that tell us?

It suggests to me that the guidelines/instructions given to the refs are what needs looking at rather than the refs themselves.

Yeah, it never hurts to spell it out though :D

What sums up the problem for me is that us and United have the lowest average of fouls per game(208 total) whilst Arsenal(200) and Southampton(207) are on similar numbers having played a game or two less. When you look at the disciplinary record though we have the 10th worst whilst the others all are better. We also get the most bookings for dives and no penalties. We're one of those clubs that are just easy for the refs to punish because our manager doesn't criticise them as heavily as others and our players don't all rush officials and bully them.

    I'd have to agree, YV.
Webb gave as many fouls against us as he did to Reading, we had three players booked against Sunderland to their one and 15 fouls to 9 and 12 to Swansea's 8 in our recent games.
    It simply doesn't add up.

Suarez got 1 against Stoke which the foul clearly started outside the box and nothing was said.
