He always struck me as a Diet Dembele, as he can certainly play as the elegant bulldozer when bringing the ball forwards but he doesn't have the strength or the ball control to be effective in a way that prime Dembele made look effortless
if anything he reminds me of a poor mans sissoko and sissoko without his engine is basically barely a player
I think he could do a job for a number of bottom half sides. No world beater but I think he’d appeal to some. Got the height and build for a bulldozer but with semi decent technical skills too.
Little added incentive for the lads tomorrow now. Still unlikely we make top four but a win against the Blades sees us go within 6 points of Chelsea.
Good results for us today, apart from Norwich, but they're bottom and a loss was probably predictable. Chelsea still have Sheffield United, Liverpool and Wolves to play, as well as Watford who are fighting for their lives and are the kind of team who could pull out a result under Pearson. They've also got the small matter of a cup game against United to consider. United have reasonable fixtures apart from Leicester on the final day and you'd possibly expect them to overtake Chelsea. I think we've probably left ourselves too much to do for CL (even assuming City's ban is upheld and 5th gets CL) but if we can just keep grinding games out then we'll give it a damn good go. A win tomorrow sees us 4 points off 5th with 6 games to go - on the face of it, that is far from unsurmountable.
Missing out on Bruno Fernandez is the one that I am most sad about. This is the kind of player who is a rarity, a player who can transform a team and there are not many of them about. We got Lo Celso so we won there but it's so annoying to see United improve when were so close to signing him apparently.
The last time that West Ham did the double over Chelsea was the 2002/03 season. They had Defoe, Di Canio, Kanoute, Les Ferdinand, Carrick, Bowyer, Joe Cole, Trevor Sinclair, Glen Johnson, Nigel Winterburn and David James in their squad. They drew with a Midlands team on the final day and got relegated. Who's their last game this season? Villa.
3-0 halftime. You just expected that didn't you? Sheff 3 Spurs 1.Didn't expect that! Must be a moral here but I can't think of one!!! Liverpool can say,why bother? Spurs fans can say,"why do we bother?"!
Ever since it became clear that Pool would win the (sham) title, I have noticed a difference in the way their games have been officiated. City would not have been given that penalty had there still been a title race that`s for sure. I always suspected the authorities were sick of City winning the league and denying their darlings in the process, it appeared the first two thirds of the season were officiated with that in mind.
Agree, he has that ability to pick the lock and make things happen, Spurs have talent but nobody quite like that and it shows in a lot of games
yup, someone like a bruno fernandes would have been fantastic on a day like today when you boys couldn't create anything
Prime Eriksen likely bags two assists and a goal against that Sheff side. Hate how it ended with him but Lamela/ Dele (or Lucas judging by that game) just don’t have that creative knack he did. Miss that magical Dane. It still doesn’t stop our defence falling to pieces though, mind. Those goals were so, so easy for Sheff. ****ing playground defending. I could do better after 8 cans.
Not sure deli had that much time to shine. In the box his instincts are great but his overall build up is a bit lacklustre unlike the dane. Lamela whilst hardworking and aggressive is a bit too tunnel vision. It was a nice bit of play from him to loft it over to son but generally he carries the ball to much when a pass is on. He loves to take a few touches rather than move it on quickly
Dele’s not the same player he was in his first couple seasons. Ever since he started focusing on his social media career/ brand plus the problems with his on/ off missus his form suffered for it. Flashes of brilliance here and there but that’s it. I’d happily cash in on him in the summer. Lamela’s the type of guy who’ll take a bullet for the club and occasionally he can do some great bits of play. Definitely takes an extra touch in certain situations. He’s a great squad player to have but injuries make him too unreliable to depend on.
