Bayern have sacked Niko Kovac.

There is a certain ruthlessness at the truly huge clubs that demands a certain standard is maintained and if it isn't, you're out. No ifs or buts.

I'd love us to be as ruthless. The tricky part is first establishing that gold standard by which all subsequent managers are measured. All it takes is one legacy. We'd have to go back to Bill Nic to find one.

Bill Nicholson had a win ratio of less than 50%. He had the most expensive squad in the league but only won it once. Poch has won a lot more matches with fewer resources.

...but still has no legacy to show for it and still hasn't established a truly objectively ruthless standard. I'd like him to get the time to do so though as, which was the true point of my post, not a single manager in the past 3 decades has come nearly as close as him.

I wouldn’t want to be that ruthless. Needs to be a middle ground for me, even though Bayern are expected to more or less win every game, they’re only 4 points off top at the moment, so it’s not as if they’re in a crisis.

We on the other hand are 10 points off our expected position (3rd), playing dreadful and the manager seems to be showing signs of insanity in terms of picking wantaways and/ or under-performers and expecting different (better) results each time.

Probably harsh to say but Poch would’ve already been sacked if it weren’t for the fact he’s on a huge contract.

Bayern have sacked Niko Kovac.

It’s called standards DH..they have theirs...we seem to have scrapped ours because the man who created them(Poch) is trying to dismantle them...a bit like a bad relationship when someone wants out but hasn’t got the balls so the hard work is getting undone because the love is gone...Levy isn’t paying any compensation so it looks like we are stuck until Levy digs deep or Poch hits the floor...he’s falling at the moment

It’s probably nothing to do with the immediate short term but they can probably tell that he doesn’t have the minerals for what they want

West Ham will be after him soon

One season, wins the double, sacked because they lost two games! <laugh>
His Bayern career was so entwined with his old club, it's unbelievable. Started and ended with games against Frankfurt.
It's worth noting that the knives were out for Kovac from almost the beginning, with Kicker and Bild running hit pieces on him in December, with the real lowlight an article in TZ from late November that literally cherrypicked completely unsubstantiated guff about Kovac losing the dressing room a clique of Ribery, Robben, Muller and Hummels were actively defying him. The source for this article? Some bloke ranting on a Bayern fansite, hence the complete lack of viable sources let alone quotes to support the clickbaity headline, or to put it another way it was the equivalent of the Standard using one of Harry ****espout's blogs as the basis for an article because it would get traffic to the page

I wonder why? Odd.

I hope Leicester keep producing the results to remind our bunch of half-arsed underachievers that it’s not about resting on one’s laurels after having achieved naff all.

What I write on the pages of this board and what I used to write in the pages of the wum... er, I mean... the Prem board rarely ever correlate.

It’s a shame you never learned to notice that.

Can you 'learn to notice' Quents? ... semantics perhaps... but surely it's just observation rather than a learnt skill or learnt behaviour? ...

... but now I'm just messing with you ... take it easy bru <ok>
