Not necessarily: Dnipro got taken over by a billionaire, but he got bored of his toy and they went from playing in the UEFA Cup final in 2015 to their current spot in the Ukrainian third tier in almost record time
So Pool's latest keeper hero may be injured for tomorrow. Talk about getting your excuses in early. Let us not recall that they played Palace last season whose 3rd choice keeper gave them the victory, that (and all the other lucky victories) will of course not be mentioned when discussing how "far ahead" Citeh and Pool are.
I think the "little" European countries are getting results because they are more "hungry" than the Scots. There was a time when every team wanted at least one "hard" Scot in their team. Have Scotland lost their way?
Scotland has lost it's heavy industry and it's miners. England has suffered this as well but proportionally it is a much greater change for Scotland. Many of the great footballers came from this background so they start with great physical strength. Modern young men are just as likely to spend their time on computers and turn their nose up at physical exercise. Scotland has invested in indoor football facilities and there are signs that once again we are seeing Scottish talent emerge, but nothing like the extent it used to be when all top English sides had their Scots.
We had our first two goalkeepers out at the same time for a couple of games last season and it barely got a mention. Alfie Whiteman ended up on the bench, as Gazzaniga basically took Vorm's place in the squad. Not sure who our 3rd choice is now, though. Austin's playing for the U23s and Vorm doesn't have a club yet.
Only a Scouser could run on the pitch and injure your team's 'keeper, who was deputising for your injured first team 'keeper. But it wasn't his fault. You can't blame him. Where were the stewards?
I think that one of the stewards was part of why it happened, as he pulled him back and caused him to lose his balance. Shouldn't have been on the pitch in the first place, of course. Alternatively...
Amazed the BBC aren't rushing to update the table based on the halftime scores They couldn't help themselves a week ago...
I'm amazed the BBC haven't updated the table based on halftime scores yet They couldn't help themselves a week ago...
What the hell was Trezeguet doing here? You;re supposed to split the opposition defence, not your own!
Fair play to Chelsea, managed to do similar to us yesterday in terms of stealing a point against a much better team.
