They didn't play Gazzaniga for three seasons, so I can't see how they can complain about him swapping one bench for another

It's like how a few of them were always on here moaning at our signing Toby, yet making no mention of Man Utd, Saltypool or the Nomads regularly decimating their squads for years beforehand

As clubs continue to break signing records,it makes me wonder if the first billion dollar player has been born yet?

Everton have agreed to pay Arsenal up to £40m for Alex Iwobi.,,................................ I'll let that sink in before making further comment.

They've given us around £65m for both Iwobi and Walcott. We should sell our cast-offs to them more!

Joking aside, I am a bit sad to see Iwobi leave. He's a boyhood Arsenal fan, been with the academy since primary school, and looked a serious talent when he first came onto the scene. His youthful energy and directness was something we lacked.

Unfortunately, he stagnated badly under Wenger and never seemed to kick on. He did show some signs of improvement under Emery, but he reverted to type as the season progressed. Truth be told, I don't know if he had the mentality to succeed at Arsenal. He's been with the first team for 4 years, yet never really hit his stride with us.

He has the attributes to be a very good player. But his finishing and awful decision-making in the final third is what, I believe, has cost him a career at Arsenal.

I would have kept Iwobi as a squad player for the season, but a £40m offer is simply too good to refuse.

    I wish him well.

@BrunelGooner - Seriously, how toxic is it at Arsenal for a player to show this much disrespect? I would be incensed if a Spurs player left and did this.

My view on this is slightly different to most other Arsenal fans.

I was annoyed when I initially saw it, but I didn't take it personally because this whole stunt wasn't a slant on the fans or the club itself; it was to do with the management. Admittedly, it was a very petty and childish thing to do - and why he agreed to do it suggests things did not end smoothly between him and Sanllehi/Fahmy/Edu - but I would have been a lot more annoyed if this happened whilst he was in his prime (which he isn't nor has he been for about 3-4 years now).

For whatever reason, Koscielny felt like the club reneged on an agreement they made to him. The club have obviously denied going back on any agreement. It's also unclear as to whether this so-called 'agreement' was before Emery and co. came in or whether it was afterwards. We'll never find out the truth.

What frustrates me more is the fact that he refused to get on the plane to the US as club captain. Not only that, he then expected us to pay off the final year of his deal, in a desperate and senseless attempt to force a move to one of the French clubs, simply because they were too stingy to pay £8m. It did his PR no favours at all. The fans turned on him and sided with the club.

In a way, I am glad this happened because it forced our hand. We needed a new centre-half irrespective of whether he stayed or not. My gut feeling is we would have been less inclined to get one had he saw out his final 12 months. Luiz may well be 32, and rash on occasion. But I'd rather have a fit Luiz than a crocked Koscielny for the next year until Saliba comes in.

With that being said, I'll always appreciate his time at the club. He scored some very important goals, helped us reach finals and won trophies with us. He's not a club legend by any means, but he was a very good servant who enjoyed plenty of success during his time here.

I see Luiz gone to Arsenal. Always liked him. Very calm player and should do well IF he has a couple of choppers either side of him.Did Chelsea get rid of him because of age?

Surprise surprise, closet Pool fan Michael Oliverpool is in charge of the Mouser`s opening game v Norwich, the authorities doing their best to ensure their darlings start the season with 3 points.

I'd gladly see Max Aarons' transfer value jump by £15m this evening

At work today a Liverpool fan told me with a bit of luck they will win the prem this season , had to laugh then tell him that VAR would be their biggest opponent this season

VAR will be their 12th man mate. They will only review decisions against the mousers.

So are Liverpool going to be allowed to fail this season? Funny how there has been nil mention of the dives, offside goals and various dodgy decisions in their favour in the "perfect season" they had last year. Basically the only way they got runners-up is because of the refs, and while I'll be accused of sour grapes for saying it I think it's a fact. What will happen this season though. It's almost as if it's a self-fulfilling prophecy in that there has been no discussion other than how far ahead Pool and Citeh are, and then this kind of feeds into results somehow. In fact I'd argue that only Citeh are that far ahead and Pool rely on dodgy decisions and keeping their front three fit through the whole season to keep up. So I ask again, will they be allowed to have results on merit, or results they are "entitled to"?

    Mixed feelings about that one.
It was clearly a stunt for publicity and a bit of a piss take, but it was in pre-season and they made money for charity.
It's hardly Bedale AFC level, which seems to be fine: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49278629

Which was always my issue with VAR in the first place. It's never going to be equally applied, as we've already seen.
