Man Utd and Arsenal are huge clubs, can’t compare them to the ones listed above.

To be fair, with the massively inflated fees in football nowadays, pretty much every half-decent player is going to be a financial risk. Now, it is still possible to find 'value for money', but it is getting increasingly harder if you're a PL club with high aspirations. It's ultra competitive out there and every foreign club knows you have money.

We've both spent huge sums of money on players from the French league. And whilst both Ndombele and Pepe look like they have the attributes to succeed in this division, it's a huge chunk of money wasted if they don't work out. You can get away with poor, expensive signings if you're a financial powerhouse in the game like United, City, PSG etc. But, for both of our clubs, it would take a massive hit on the finances - Arsenal even more so.

That being said, I think KH is right that both Arsenal and United are too big and, especially now with the influx of money from TV deals and sponsorships, are too rich to ever suffer the fate of the aforementioned clubs.

Everton look like they will be a serious force. Their new owner is starting to really spend.

Everton have signed Juventus's 19-year-old Italy international forward Moise Kean on a five-year deal.

They're apparently now after Doucoure too to replace Gana Gueye. That would be a huge coup as he's a key member of a PL rival who finished just 2 points behind them last season.

Kean looks like a real talent. Big, strong and lightening quick but his first touch needs a lot of work. Could well be the long term replacement for Lukaku they've tried and failed to get for 2 years.

I said on the Gooner board at the end of last season that it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see one or more of Everton, Leicester and Wolves break the top 6 cartel this year. And I stick by that statement.

You know what Alisson's fumble on Sterling's shot means don't you? Man Utd fans swarming onto Twitter to say that De Gea is by far the better keeper and that anyone who disagrees knows nothing about football

Bloody hell, when did their fans go Full Arsenal?

Have you ever used that app that tells you how long you've looking at Social Media? I guessing 18 hours a day.

Nope, just using Twitter's trending tab - which is usually a barometer of Man Utd fans being obnoxious, entitled twats (see also: when Lo Celso started trending last night, tons of them were tweeting slight variations of "Good, that means we can get Fernandes")

Over £80m for Slabhead - The worlds most expensive defender! But where would be rank amongst defenders currently playing - Outside the top 10 in my opinion. The English premium was clearly factor but it's a huge fee.

Do these "experts" get paid I wonder. I know many on these boards know more about the game than these "big names".....if you pardon the expression.

Wilfried Zaha reportedly hands in a transfer request to force through a move to Everton

Interesting that he didn't do so to force a move to the other club interested in him this summer...

The current issue of WSC has a Southampton fan kvetching about the success we've achieved with their players

Which ones? The only ex-Saint in our squad is Big Vic, and he hardly played last season due to injury

We nicked Alderweireld from under their noses and he did play for them, so I guess they're including him, too.
Gazzaniga was theirs and they're probably including ex-players, like Bale.
Pochettino was their manager, but I'm not sure how they're putting that in.
