In the 65 mins Tripps was on the pitch, Atleti conceded just the one goal. In the 25 mins he was off of it, they conceded two.

Yeah, Costa may have stolen the headlines but we know who the real MVP was.

But, lucky for them, Pepe is willing to forego CL football at Lille this season to play not-CL football, but of course this doesn't mean he was motivated by the wage hike they offered, or the fact that in spite of having an impressive season (and, to be fair, a while back I did include him on a list of potential Big Signings this summer) none of Barca, Los Ladrones, Atletico, PSG, Bayern, Man Utd, The Sheikh Mansour Team, Saltypool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Lyon, or Dortmund showed any interest in him, which definitely doesn't imply the Nomads continue to sign players that nobody else wants...

Earlier today, Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham reassured fans that the club had significant funds to spend.

He said: “I don’t recognise this £40m figure, I have read it a lot. That doesn’t come from us, that doesn’t come from the club. The numbers never come from us.”

Keeping them out of the CL is the main thing.
It puts their wage bill into a vicious circle when it comes to new
signings (they ain't coming for the PL or CL glory are they) .

That signing also proves that the Goons were trying an unsettling campaign
with Zaha to try and get him on the cheap (well played there) .

I don't think that Palace would accept the structure that Arsenal are supposedly using to pay for Pepe.
Seems like it's being paid over quite a number of years, by all accounts.
 
Danny Welbeck is apparently struggling to find a new club, as no-one is willing to meet his £100,000-a-week wage demands. He also wants a huge signing-on fee, too.

I wonder why you're struggling, Danny...
