Yes but the glaring difference is Wenger was their first choice to replace George Graham, Arteta isn't. According to Gary Neville and several others in the media, their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices all ran a mile! <laugh><laugh><laugh>

I think that people will be wary of being the new Moyes following Ferguson.
They should still be able to attract a top name, though. The money alone should do that.

I'm not too sure. Even taking my Spurs-bias out of the equation, I look at Arsenal right now and see a club that isn't massively appealing.

Their fanbase turned on their greatest ever manager and have become a laughing stock on social media, they've finished outside the CL for two successive seasons and a large number of players just aren't good enough for a club of their stature.

Many "top" managers these days aren't known for their rebuilding skills, they often take over clubs more or less ready-made to succeed with perhaps a few tweaks needed, Arsenal don't come under that bracket right now, they need a lot of work and I can't imagine too many top names willing to put their reputation on the line.

It's probably why Arteta is now the current favourite, he has no managerial reputation but obviously knows the current game very well and I'm sure his time under Pep will have Arsenal hoping he can replicate the sort of stuff City have been playing. Risky though.

  4. So it looks like Joe Hart’s stellar season at the Spanners hasn’t been enough to get the nod from Southgate - and Wheelchair is also going to have a couple of extra weeks off <laugh>

But if you want a laugh, take in the BBC HYS feed....... feckin hilarious! Suffice to say that the Goons are out in force and for some reason, Kane, Alli and Dier are prime candidates for their wrath. One even calls Spurs and Liverpool ‘long ball lumpers’ <doh>

Ffs! We haven’t even done long balls this season even when we’ve wanted to for Nando’s sake!

A classic case of the moron football supporter.
Specifically, being unable to distinguish a long
    ball from the hoof.

As in that Spurs master of the "long ball" : Glenn Hoddle.

    Sam Allardyce leaves Everton.

So, how long until The Sun print "Allardyce to Replace Poch" ?

And Wenger had managerial experience in France and Japan - was highly thought of by Glenn Hoddle for example - what has Arteta done. And what about this Liverpool assistant manager, didn't he quit Pool for this job?

Contrary to the revisionist history or Arsenal FC, Wenger was never Arsenal's choice to replace George Graham - Bruce Rioch was, hence the three-year contract they offered him when he signed as their manager.

There's just some fans that love to hate on Big Sam when he's in charge. Newcastle, West Ham and now Everton to name a few, all of which were in dire straights when he took over and led them to security.

And all of the teams fans in question seemed to harbour this fantasy that they could have a manager not only save their sorry arses, but in style and then some. All of us fans harbour delusions of grandeur to a degree, but any club that hires a manager like Sam Allardyce has to realise that priority number one is safety, and beyond that, you rebuild/regroup.

Sadly in this money driven game we love so much, time is no longer a luxury anyone gets. It's a bit ridiculous really and makes you realise just how fortunate we are to have a stable, well run club that has success coupled with style, whilst not self-destructing.

Everton fans should be thanking Big Sam for the job he did considering where they were at Christmas. Instead they turned on him because they insisted on harbouring ludicrously blind ambitions whilst being up to the waist in **** (most likely exacerbated by the progress Liverpool has made across the river).

Over the final 2/3 of the season, he took 7/1 pts less
    than the Goons/Chelsky.

On that basis, if Wenger and Fat Sam have gone,
then Conte should definitely be clearing his desk the
minute FT is blown on the FA Cup final (or perhaps
5th + FA Cup win gets you a 2 yr contract - it did for
    Wenger) .

Regarding Fat Sam perhaps it's not only about points. He does produce some very tedious football
You could say that is the fault of the owners and they should have known how he would set up his team. But I wouldn't want to watch hoofball all the time.

Allardyce, Pulis and I think Puel also falls into this category. They do well, but they do it in a tedious manner.
I think that Mourinho does something similar but with far more money and he's slightly better at it.

Sunderland's last four managers have all left their jobs in the last 18 days.
    Coleman at Sunderland? Sacked.
    Grayson at Bradford? Contract expired.
Moyes at West Ham? Contract expired.
    Allardyce at Everton? Sacked.

Anyone fancy taking over at the Stadium of Light?
