Are you implying that he is a one season wonder ?? "Be interesting to see where he ends up." Barcelona. < thick fishy > < incoming >
It's hardly a shocking revelation since the Torygraph were reporting that the only reason he stayed this season was because of a gentleman's agreement (which I mentioned over in the transfer thread at the time) - and it's pretty damning that the architects of The Leicester City Fairytale™ have been such utter turds since then, with Vardy publicly blabbing about his release clause to get a bumper contract, Mahrez begrudgingly sticking around after Kante left, and the players not only knifing the manager who got them their fifteen minutes in the back but some of them slagging him off in the press for trivial bullshit such as Danny Simpson bawling his eyes out because Ranieri wouldn't let them have chicken burgers and potato wedges for lunch anymore. I get the feeling that, if the film adaptation hasn't quietly been shelved, it's going to utterly tank because the target audience knows full well what happened afterwards.
Arsenal might be a very good idea, he could not try there as well and treble his salary. In fact he could rival Ozil for the Arsenal 'who can produce least sweat trophy', although I think that there is a fair chance that it would be a tie.
"Consonant please Carol" "It's an 'N'" "Vowel please Carol" "It's an 'O'" Thanks Carol, you can leave it as it is.
Thomas Tuchel has stepped down as Dortmund manager. When asked for their take on the subject, all Arsenal fans were able to say was "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit..."
So he lost the battle to win the war? You are just taunting the most superist fan of the most attackinest team ever aren't you
I see the Chelsea youth system is once again giving youngsters an opportunity to get their start in the Premier League, with Dominic Solanke leaving the club to sign for Liverpool after a successful season where he scored 7 goals in 26 appearances...a year ago when he was on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, and he hasn't had a single appearance since.
Makes you appreciate how well Hazard has had to play in order to break into a starting XI full of seasoned Academy player. dg
Ours by a long shot. Belated congratulations on winning the FA Cup, and on a brilliant record in the FA Cup recently. I'd really like the former, and love the latter. But your team this year had a number of problems which I would loathe my team to have, including fan dissension, a couple of big steps backwards, and the decent chance that by far your best player will leave. Most importantly, the future looks (relatively) bleak, though some kind of a turnaround isn't an unrealistic hope. Here's how I'd rank the club's years. 1. Chelsea. First by some distance. They won the league, and nearly played the best football. The new manager improved everything, including the behavior of the players. Negatives: Costa remains loathsome (though maybe not quite as loathsome), and some of the other players and history remain pretty loathsome as well. Not turning up at the FA Cup final takes a bit of the sparkle off the year, but if I were a Chelsea fan, the lead is "We won the league." 2. Spurs. Just barely over Man U. Best football, most goals for, fewest goals against, Golden Boot, young player of the year, best PL season ever, best league finish since the mid-sixties, saw our grounds out with an undefeated year topped off by beating the richest club in the world--but no trophies aside from the coveted "Only PL team to fetch up in Hong Kong" prize. No trophies is a big miss, but the pleasure the the team gave its fans minute to minute, game after game, was tremendous. Also, the players really seem a credit to the sport for the most part. Kane deserved his fans player of the year award. 3. Man U. The exact opposite of Spurs. Spent 300 million to finish 6th playing crap football (albeit somewhat improved when they couldn't keep lumping it to Ibrahimovic)--but a double winner. While I would love to have won the Europa, my pastime is watching games. So, excellent games and no trophy noses out a double and crap games. Just barely, maybe only with an assist from the fact I can't stand Mourinho. Hard to rate the prospects for next year. They will spend, but can Mourinho forge a lot of expensive players into a force next year, when he made no progress this year (except in KO competitions, of course)? 4. Liverpool. The Klopp project just about on target with a CL spot. Played good football, as well, though not at the back. A little disappointing that they faded at the end after looking like one of the top two teams for a while. The worry is that playing in Europe next year will be too much for their resources. 5. City. Guardiola was widely pilloried for various reasons, but I still think he may be on the way to brute forcing a title through the power of sheer money. Entertaining, even if comically inept in their half. 6. Everton. Koeman did extremely well getting his team of talented flakes to the Europa. But what does he do now that his best player or two look likely to leave? 7. Arsenal. A crushingly disappointing and infuriating season partly redeemed by an FA cup win. Ground Hog's Day failed this year to get either a CL spot or a finish ahead of Spurs. By far their best player is widely rumored to leave, and their manager is a target of a worldwide and far ranging revolt. The one thing that would really help would be for Wenger to step down. If he did, fans might say the team managed to see out a great era in a fitting way, and hope another top young manager can bring back better days. Anything can happen, but if the past is any guide, Wenger will be unable to change the script.
Liverpool have offered Manchester City left-back Gael Clichy, 31, a lucrative two-year deal as they look to land the defender on a free transfer. (Sun) It's like they want to be hated on Merseyside...
I appreciate that and wish you the the same regarding the Arsenal board, owner and manager. Maybe next year, eh?
No, apparently there's no break clause. It's the full 2 years.......Death or Glory. I sense Robbie Lyle will appear in The Rich List Top 10 before that contract ends.
