I sense that match officials see us in an increasingly benevolent light. We are robust and physical without resorting to the foul play of many of our opponents. The WBA game apart (with damned good cause), our players are controlled and treat officials with respect. Harry Kane deals with referees on the pitch. He's no push over but you don't see his face contorted with rage and shouting four letter rants that Rooney, Terry and Henderson indulge in. I cannot remember M Pochettino commenting in a deregoatory fashion about an official. He probably has but he doesn't make a habit of it, it's just not his style. Maybe officials finally see that giving in to the Liverpools, Uniteds and Chelseas with their gamesmanship, lack of respect, intimidation and their ridiculous demands for preferential treatment just encourages them to do it more and more. It was noticeable earlier this season that the more Mourinho demanded a penalty from officials the greater became the likelihood that hell would freeze over before he got one. Just one complaint. Could an official please send Robert Huth off for elbowing opponents before he seriously hurts someone?
Sounds like Gomes had a blinder last night, happy for him. Does us a favour by prolonging Chelsea's miserable season thus far
He did. It's probably why he still plays for us (according to the NBC's graphic - we have no right to complain about our coverage!)
Barca beat Valencia 7-0 last night, with Luis Suarez scoring four goals and Messi the other three. The last time that Barcelona scored seven with one player scoring four and another scoring three, the guy that got four was called... Luis Suarez. It was in 1956 and they beat Atletico 7-3.
Don't think this happened, unfortunately. The footage would be everywhere today and we're just getting this picture, instead.
Yeah you're right, PNP. Literally as soon as I saw the pic of the quote and posted it on here, someone then retweeted this link onto my time line straight afterwards - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/gary-neville-quote-losing-7-7308161 I'll just pretend it was real as it was pretty funny, lol.
You can imagine him ripping apart the team on MNF football, though. He'd have slaughtered anyone that got battered that badly, even if the opposition were of Barca's quality.
Just like a politician. Some remarks come back to haunt you....like:- "I didn't see it!' Arsenal Wenker. "Football isn't life or death. It's more important than that." Bill Shankly.
The strange thing about people like Neville is that they kind of accidentally 'fall into' a major managerial appointment with no prior experience in the dugout. And yet, when it all inevitably goes tits up, for some reason the 'top flight manager' label sticks to them and every subsequent job they are offered tends to be relatively massive too. Sherwood is another obvious example of this syndrome, as is Di Matteo. Are there any more like that?
Di Matteo did actually win the CL. Admittedly with incredible luck and boring football. Neville just looks way out of his depth! Barca just took them to pieces.
Giggs. A few uninspired games in charge of United at the back end of a season as a player-manager and all of the sudden he was the Messiah when LVG was stagnating a few weeks back. Fans and pundits calling for him to be given the manager's role at United (Robbie Savage, stand up) are deluded. Top players do not necessarily top managers make. Often better coaches in my opinion.
At least Shearer learnt his lesson. McClaren is still hanging around. I suppose he at least sort of backed it up with a League Cup and Uefa Cup final with Boro and a title at Twente.
Oh, did you used to be SandrotheBeast or something? I love that Dele wave. It should be his goal celebration. Just stand still in front of the opposition dug out, and wave.
In fairness to Neville, at least he had the balls to go out there and put his reputation on the line. Ironically, if he had made even a half decent run of results over there, he would probably have been appointed manager of Man United a fortnight ago.
I feel sorry for the Man U managers as they come and go.The shadow of Ferguson sitting in the stands isn't very pleasant. They should give him a single train ticket back to Aberdeen......
