Not worth a separate thread, but just watched the aftermath of Blackburn Rovers relegation match - and touched by the dignity of Paul Robinson, doing a solo lap of honour. Really feel for him as an ex-Spur!
Yeah heard that. And to be fair to the fans they haven't given any players any abuse during that match. And even those protesting clapped Robinson from the pitch and shook his hand.
Seemed like most of the rest made a hasty exit. Certainly didn't seem to be an animosity towards the players - all directed towards the owners and Keane, but Robbo showed what a true pro he is. Stayed out there on his own, clapping the fans. Top guy!!
Oh well, so who would we want to 'acquire' from a relegated Rovers? Much talk around Hoillet earlier in the season, but can't think that too many others would be on any wish list for a top half team.
I think Blackburn fans should target their ire towards the owners. Nobody deserves the abuse that Kean has had heaped upon him, and those fans should be ashamed of themselves for such vile personal abuse. He seems to be a fundamentally decent man, who's just out of his depth.
True, but the way he got the job was a bit dodgy to be fair. Not saying their abuse of him was right or anything.
We obviously don't know all the ins and outs of it, but we can only assume that Big Sam did, or said something to piss off the new owners. They, being naive, assumed that Kean must know everything Sam knew, and was a nice cheaper option for them. He's clearly out of his depth, and just doing the best he can - which isn't good enough. To e fair, I'm not sure who could make a silk purse out of that particular sow's ear.
Blackburn have been flirting with relegation on and off for years - Souness was taking them down so in came Mark Hughes, Ince was taking them down so in came Allardyce, and contrary to popular opinion Allardyce was hardly doing a great job of keeping their heads above water before Kean came in. Some clubs flirt above the trapdoor for a few seasons before inevitability gets them relegated more than anything else.
Feels odd cheering on Liverpool tonight, just gives us a little more leeway at the weekend if Liverpool can get something though.
Got to support the car thieves tonight. That would pretty much guarantee us at least 4th place - assuming we don't **** up big time against Fulham!
A point would be ideal. I'd love Everton to finish above 'Pool and obviously we all want Chelsea out of the running for the final game
